to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

You have come to the church of God’s people. God’s first and only Son is over all things. God’s people share in what belongs to his Son. Their names are written in heaven. You have come to God, who is the Judge of all people. You have come to the spirits of godly people who have been made perfect.

and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect.

Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names stand written in heaven.”

Rise up, O judge of the earth! Pay back the proud!

And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,

You must say to Pharaoh,‘ Thus says the LORD,“ Israel is my son, my firstborn,

For God had provided something better for us, so that they would be made perfect together with us.

By his sovereign plan he gave us birth through the message of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

Far be it from you to do such a thing– to kill the godly with the wicked, treating the godly and the wicked alike! Far be it from you! Will not the judge of the whole earth do what is right?”

For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints.But we passionately want each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of your hope until the end,so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherit the promises.

If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, that person was thrown into the lake of fire.

This is evidence of God’s righteous judgment, to make you worthy of the kingdom of God, for which in fact you are suffering.For it is right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,and to you who are being afflicted to give rest together with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels.

And God put all things under Christ’s feet, and he gave him to the church as head over all things.

By faith Abel offered God a greater sacrifice than Cain, and through his faith he was commended as righteous, because God commended him for his offerings. And through his faith he still speaks, though he is dead.

before the LORD, for he comes! For he comes to judge the earth! He judges the world fairly, and the nations in accordance with his justice.

So I said to him,“ My lord, you know the answer.” Then he said to me,“ These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb!For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve him day and night in his temple, and the one seated on the throne will shelter them.They will never go hungry or be thirsty again, and the sun will not beat down on them, nor any burning heat,because the Lamb in the middle of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

and all those who live on the earth will worship the beast, everyone whose name has not been written since the foundation of the world in the book of life belonging to the Lamb who was killed.

These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed from humanity as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb,

before the LORD! For he comes to judge the earth! He judges the world fairly, and the nations in a just manner.

“ When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.All the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate people one from another like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.Then the king will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

and he has granted the Son authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.Now if I am to go on living in the body, this will mean productive work for me, yet I don’t know which I prefer:I feel torn between the two, because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far,

But as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for herto sanctify her by cleansing her with the washing of the water by the word,so that he may present the church to himself as glorious– not having a stain or wrinkle, or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.

giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.

But now, if you will forgive their sin…, but if not, wipe me out from your book that you have written.”

Not that I have already attained this– that is, I have not already been perfected– but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me.Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single- minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead,with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.Therefore let those of us who are“ perfect” embrace this point of view. If you think otherwise, God will reveal to you the error of your ways.Nevertheless, let us live up to the standard that we have already attained.Be imitators of me, brothers and sisters, and watch carefully those who are living this way, just as you have us as an example.For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, they exult in their shame, and they think about earthly things.But our citizenship is in heaven– and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.

When he was maligned, he did not answer back; when he suffered, he threatened no retaliation, but committed himself to God who judges justly.

But if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church of God?

a God who is honored in the great angelic assembly, and more awesome than all who surround him?

Rather, he must acknowledge the son of the less loved wife as firstborn and give him the double portion of all he has, for that son is the beginning of his father’s procreative power– to him should go the right of the firstborn.

I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, the most exalted of the earth’s kings.

And just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, let us also bear the image of the man of heaven.

Thus we are full of courage and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the godly and the congregation.

Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.

He says:“ Assemble my covenant people before me, those who ratified a covenant with me by sacrifice!”The heavens declare his fairness, for God is judge.( Selah)

Yes, I say also to you, true companion, help them. They have struggled together in the gospel ministry along with me and Clement and my other coworkers, whose names are in the book of life.

May their names be deleted from the scroll of the living! Do not let their names be listed with the godly!

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my physical body– for the sake of his body, the church– what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.

“ Set apart to me every firstborn male– the first offspring of every womb among the Israelites, whether human or animal; it is mine.”

Now when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will happen,“ Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

For now we see in a mirror indirectly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known.

and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the life’s breath returns to God who gave it.

They will come back shedding tears of contrition. I will bring them back praying prayers of repentance. I will lead them besides streams of water, along smooth paths where they will never stumble. I will do this because I am Israel’s father; Ephraim is my firstborn son.’”
