fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith. He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy he was looking forward to. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

when he was insulted, he did not insult in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree; so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

while we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.He gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people for his own possession, eager to do good works.

and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.

so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.For this reason God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow— in heaven and on earth and under the earth—and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

For this is the will of my Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

God exalted this man to his right hand as ruler and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Wasn’t it necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God with angels, authorities, and powers subject to him.

“ Write to the angel of the church in Smyrna: Thus says the First and the Last, the one who was dead and came to life:

“ Now my soul is troubled. What should I say— Father, save me from this hour? But that is why I came to this hour.Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven:“ I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”

Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into his hands, that he had come from God, and that he was going back to God.

Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing his disgrace.

There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.

Now the main point of what is being said is this: We have this kind of high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life.

If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.Let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or a meddler.But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed but let him glorify God in having that name.

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; he was despised, and we didn’t value him.

When he had left, Jesus said,“ Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once.

As for me, if I am lifted up from the earth I will draw all people to myself.”

I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will wait for him.

Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. For I am God, and there is no other.

After he was perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,

They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified in advance to the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.

For David says of him: I saw the Lord ever before me; because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices. Moreover, my flesh will rest in hope,

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and who depend on horses! They trust in the abundance of chariots and in the large number of horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel, and they do not seek the LORD.

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.”

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me. LORD, your faithful love endures forever; do not abandon the work of your hands.

Immediately the father of the boy cried out,“ I do believe; help my unbelief!”

Truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces much fruit.

The apostles said to the Lord,“ Increase our faith.”

Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said,“ Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you,since you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him.This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent— Jesus Christ.I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do.

Then they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be treated shamefully on behalf of the Name.

Then they spat in his face and beat him; others slapped himand said,“ Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who was it that hit you?”

“ Elijah does come first and restores all things,” he replied.“ Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

Then Herod, with his soldiers, treated him with contempt, mocked him, dressed him in bright clothing, and sent him back to Pilate.

And he said,“ Abba, Father! All things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will.”

From then on Jesus began to point out to his disciples that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.

I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard. I did not hide my face from scorn and spitting.The Lord GOD will help me; therefore I have not been humiliated; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

The people stood watching, and even the leaders were scoffing:“ He saved others; let him save himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”The soldiers also mocked him. They came offering him sour wineand said,“ If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!”An inscription was above him: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.Then one of the criminals hanging there began to yell insults at him:“ Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,“ Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Therefore my heart is glad and my whole being rejoices; my body also rests securely.For you will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful one to see decay.You reveal the path of life to me; in your presence is abundant joy; at your right hand are eternal pleasures.

he says,“ It is not enough for you to be my servant raising up the tribes of Jacob and restoring the protected ones of Israel. I will also make you a light for the nations, to be my salvation to the ends of the earth.”This is what the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people, to a servant of rulers:“ Kings will see, princes will stand up, and they will all bow down because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel— and he has chosen you.”

“ Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at me whom they pierced. They will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for him as one weeps for a firstborn.

Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him severely. When you make him a guilt offering, he will see his seed, he will prolong his days, and by his hand, the LORD’s pleasure will be accomplished.After his anguish, he will see light and be satisfied. By his knowledge, my righteous servant will justify many, and he will carry their iniquities.Therefore I will give him the many as a portion, and he will receive the mighty as spoil, because he willingly submitted to death, and was counted among the rebels; yet he bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels.

For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are sanctified.

He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross by which he put the hostility to death.

( for the law perfected nothing), but a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

Others experienced mockings and scourgings, as well as bonds and imprisonment.

“ Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

saying,“ Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”

so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”

You know the insults I endure— my shame and disgrace. You are aware of all my adversaries.Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I waited for sympathy, but there was none; for comforters, but found no one.

“ I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God,“ the one who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me and said,“ Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last,

Now to which of the angels has he ever said: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool?

Sometimes you were publicly exposed to taunts and afflictions, and at other times you were companions of those who were treated that way.

For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself, so that you won’t grow weary and give up.

You made him lower than the angels for a short time; you crowned him with glory and honorand subjected everything under his feet. For in subjecting everything to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. As it is, we do not yet see everything subjected to him.But we do see Jesus— made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God’s grace he might taste death for everyone— crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death.For in bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was entirely appropriate that God— for whom and through whom all things exist— should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Therefore, as he was coming into the world, he said: You did not desire sacrifice and offering, but you prepared a body for me.You did not delight in whole burnt offerings and sin offerings.Then I said,“ See— it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, God.”After he says above, You did not desire or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings( which are offered according to the law),he then says, See, I have come to do your will. He takes away the first to establish the second.By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.Every priest stands day after day ministering and offering the same sacrifices time after time, which can never take away sins.But this man, after offering one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by people.Everyone who sees me mocks me; they sneer and shake their heads:“ He relies on the LORD; let him save him; let the LORD rescue him, since he takes pleasure in him.”

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence and gathered the whole company around him.They stripped him and dressed him in a scarlet robe.They twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and placed a staff in his right hand. And they knelt down before him and mocked him:“ Hail, king of the Jews!”Then they spat on him, took the staff, and kept hitting him on the head.After they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe, put his own clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.As they were going out, they found a Cyrenian man named Simon. They forced him to carry his cross.When they came to a place called Golgotha( which means Place of the Skull),they gave him wine mixed with gall to drink. But when he tasted it, he refused to drink it.After crucifying him, they divided his clothes by casting lots.Then they sat down and were guarding him there.Above his head they put up the charge against him in writing: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.Then two criminals were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.Those who passed by were yelling insults at him, shaking their headsand saying,“ You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him and said,“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God; let God rescue him now— if he takes pleasure in him! For he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”In the same way even the criminals who were crucified with him taunted him.From noon until three in the afternoon, darkness came over the whole land.About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out with a loud voice,“ Elí, Elí, lemá sabachtháni?” that is,“ My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”When some of those standing there heard this, they said,“ He’s calling for Elijah.”Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge, filled it with sour wine, put it on a stick, and offered him a drink.But the rest said,“ Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”But Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and gave up his spirit.

“ See, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death.They will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised.”Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons approached him with her sons. She knelt down to ask him for something.
