伊梢後來之如何切望降福、而卒見拒絕、爾所知也。蓋大錯已鑄、噬臍莫及；雖痛哭流涕而求之、亦徒然矣。

He said to his father,“ Let my father get up and eat some of his son’s game, so that you may bless me.”But his father Isaac said to him,“ Who are you?” He answered,“ I am Esau your firstborn son.”Isaac began to tremble uncontrollably.“ Who was it then,” he said,“ who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it all before you came in, and I blessed him. Indeed, he will be blessed!”When Esau heard his father’s words, he cried out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father,“ Bless me too, my father!”But he replied,“ Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing.”So he said,“ Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me twice now. He took my birthright, and look, now he has taken my blessing.” Then he asked,“ Haven’t you saved a blessing for me?”But Isaac answered Esau,“ Look, I have made him a master over you, have given him all of his relatives as his servants, and have sustained him with grain and new wine. What then can I do for you, my son?”Esau said to his father,“ Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father!” And Esau wept loudly.His father Isaac answered him, Look, your dwelling place will be away from the richness of the land, away from the dew of the sky above.You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. But when you rebel, you will break his yoke from your neck.Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. And Esau determined in his heart,“ The days of mourning for my father are approaching; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

This is because, to their own harm, they are recrucifying the Son of God and holding him up to contempt.

Since I called out and you refused, extended my hand and no one paid attention,since you neglected all my counsel and did not accept my correction,I, in turn, will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when terror strikes you,when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and stress overcome you.Then they will call me, but I won’t answer; they will search for me, but won’t find me.Because they hated knowledge, didn’t choose to fear the LORD,were not interested in my counsel, and rejected all my correction,they will eat the fruit of their way and be glutted with their own schemes.

For if we deliberately go on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.Anyone who disregarded the law of Moses died without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, who has regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
