Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

當謹慎、恐爾中有失天主之恩者、恐有毒根滋長、妨礙爾眾、使多人染穢污、

又宜互相檢點、莫使有一人退化、而自絕於天主之聖寵；莫使辛螫之根苗、萌櫱滋蔓、為厲之階、而令眾人受其沾染；

See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

Be sure that no one misses out on God’s grace. See to it that a bitter plant doesn’t grow up. If it does, it will cause trouble. And it will make many people impure.

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.

Your boasting about this is terrible. Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough?

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.

But I was the one who planted you, choosing a vine of the purest stock— the very best. How did you grow into this corrupt wild vine?

God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.

Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for“ bad company corrupts good character.”

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies.For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us.For we know the one who said,“ I will take revenge. I will pay them back.” He also said,“ The Lord will judge his own people.”It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering.Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things.You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!

And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.

Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.

Their vine grows from the vine of Sodom, from the vineyards of Gomorrah. Their grapes are poison, and their clusters are bitter.

So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.

Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

Was our sin at Peor not enough? Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.

If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.

The nation of Israel is the vineyard of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The people of Judah are his pleasant garden. He expected a crop of justice, but instead he found oppression. He expected to find righteousness, but instead he heard cries of violence.

“ But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.

What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes?

You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.

But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

Then Joshua said to Achan,“ Why have you brought trouble on us? The Lord will now bring trouble on you.” And all the Israelites stoned Achan and his family and burned their bodies.They piled a great heap of stones over Achan, which remains to this day. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.

Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live,

Finally, he turned to Aaron and demanded,“ What did these people do to you to make you bring such terrible sin upon them?”

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!

They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.

Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior.This kind of talk spreads like cancer, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus.

“ Do not take any of the things set apart for destruction, or you yourselves will be completely destroyed, and you will bring trouble on the camp of Israel.

Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following.Watch out! Remember the three years I was with you— my constant watch and care over you night and day, and my many tears for you.
