難道你們已經忘記那安慰的話嗎？就是他對你們如同對兒女那樣講論的話：「我兒，你不可輕看主的管教；被他責備的時候，也不可喪氣。因為主所愛的人，主都管教；他所接納的每一個兒子，他都鞭打。」

原來我們這暫時、輕微的患難，正為我們帶來極重無比、永恆的榮耀。

至於從上面來的智慧，首先是純潔的，然後是和平的、謙和的、溫順的，滿有憐憫和美好的果子的，是不偏私、不虛假的；並且義行的果子，是由那些締造和平的人，在和平中種下的。

耶和華雖嚴厲地管教我，但沒有把我交於死亡。

當在你的兒子還有指望時管教他；不可存心害死他。

肉身的父親在短暫的日子裡，固然照著自己的意思來管教我們；但萬靈之父是為了我們的益處管教我們，好使我們在他的聖潔上有份。

愛你律法的人大有平安，沒有什麼能絆倒他們。

為此，你們歡欣跳躍，但如今必須在種種試煉中暫時憂傷，

離棄正直路途的，必受嚴厲管教；恨惡責備的，必致死亡。

公義所結出的是平安，公義的果效是平靜安穩，直到永遠。

然而，聖靈的果子是：愛心、喜樂、和平、忍耐、仁慈、良善、忠信、溫柔、自制。這樣的事，沒有律法反對。

不過乾糧是給成熟之人吃的——他們經過實踐，識別能力得到操練，以致能分辨善惡。

至於那些不敬神的、像老婦人所編造的故事，你要拒絕。為了敬神，要操練自己，因為操練身體，益處還少；但是敬神，對一切的事都有益處，有今生和來生的應許。

我就要用杖懲罰他們的過犯，用鞭懲罰他們的罪孽。

因為神的國不在於吃喝，而在於聖靈裡的公義、和睦、喜樂。

他們眼中充滿了淫慾和無止境的罪；他們引誘不堅定的人；他們心中習慣了貪婪；他們是被詛咒的兒女；
