因着信，他做为外人客居在应许之地，住在帐幕里，与同一个应许的共同继承人以撒、雅各一样，

以信而旅於所許之地、如在異地、偕共承上帝所許之以撒雅各居於幕、

為旅於上帝許賜之地、猶在異邦、以撒雅各亦蒙上帝所許、與亞伯拉罕各居於幕、

彼有信而為旅於天主所許之地、如在異邦、居於幕、與後蒙應許之以撒雅各同、

復憑信德、而羇旅於承許之地、與共承恩諾之依灑格雅各伯同寓棚帳之中；

By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.

Because of his faith he made his home in the land God had promised him. Abraham was like an outsider in a strange country. He lived there in tents. So did Isaac and Jacob. They received the same promise he did.

By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.

And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith— for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise.

By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise.

By faith he lived as a stranger in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;

By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;

By faith he became a sojourner in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise.

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as[ in] a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

By faith he lived as a foreigner in the promised land as though it were a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were fellow heirs of the same promise.

By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.

他又从那里迁移到伯特利东边的山地，并支搭帐篷；帐篷的西边是伯特利，东边是艾。他在那里也为耶和华筑了一座祭坛，呼求耶和华的名。

亚伯兰迁移帐篷，来到希伯仑，在幔利的橡树那里居住，并在那里为耶和华筑了一座祭坛。

他们对亚伯拉罕说：“你的妻子撒拉在哪里呢？”他说：“在帐篷里！”

为此，神想要对那些继承应许的人格外表明他的计划是不能更改的，就用所起的誓来保证。

他从南地起程继续往伯特利去，到了伯特利和艾之间，就是他先前支搭帐篷的地方，

看哪，耶和华站在梯子上方，说：“我是耶和华，你父亲亚伯拉罕的神、以撒的神。我必把你现在躺卧之地，赐给你和你的后裔。你的后裔必如同地上的尘土；你必向东南西北扩展；地上万族都必因你和你的后裔而蒙福。

雅各对约瑟说：“全能的神曾在迦南地的路斯向我显现，并祝福了我，对我说：‘看哪，我要使你繁衍增多，成为万族之族；又要把这地赐给你的后裔作永远的产业。’

雅各来到他父亲以撒那里，到了基列-阿尔巴的幔利，就是亚伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方；基列-阿尔巴就是希伯仑。

在这里，神并没有赐给他继业，连立足的地方也没有。可是神应许要把这地赐给他和他的后裔为业。当时，亚伯拉罕还没有孩子。神这样说：‘他的后裔要在他人之地做寄居的，那里的人要奴役、虐待他们四百年。

于是亚伯拉罕赶快进入帐篷，到撒拉那里，说：“快拿三细亚上等的面粉，揉好做饼！”

后来耶和华在幔利的橡树那里向亚伯拉罕显现。那时是白天最热的时候，亚伯拉罕正坐在帐篷的入口。他举目观看，看哪，有三个人在他对面站着！他一看见，就从帐篷的入口跑去迎接他们，俯伏于地，

我必把你现在的寄居之地，就是迦南全地，赐给你和你的后裔作永远的产业；我也必作他们的神。”

你要寄居在这地，我必与你同在，并祝福你，因为我必把所有这些地都赐给你和你的后裔；我必确立我向你父亲亚伯拉罕所起的誓。我必使你的后裔增多，如同天上的星辰，我必把所有这些地都赐给你的后裔；地上万国都必因你的后裔而蒙福，

“我在你们中间是寄居者，是客旅；请把你们中间的一块地产给我作坟地，好让我把死者从我身旁移去安葬。”

愿神把亚伯拉罕所得的祝福赐给你和你的后裔，使你拥有你所寄居之地，就是神所赐给亚伯拉罕的。”

两个孩子渐渐长大，以扫成为一个打猎能手，常在田野；而雅各是一个安静的人，常在帐篷里。
