By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

Abel had faith. So he brought to God a better offering than Cain did. Because of his faith Abel was praised as a godly man. God said good things about his offerings. Because of his faith Abel still speaks. He speaks even though he is dead.

By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.

It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.

過了一些日子，該隱帶來土地的出產，作為供物獻給耶和華；至於亞伯，他帶來了自己羊群中最好的頭生羊。耶和華看重了亞伯和他的供物，卻沒有看重該隱和他的供物。該隱就極其惱火，他的臉沉了下來。

所以，從義人亞伯的血起，直到你們在聖所和祭壇之間所殺的巴拉加的兒子撒迦利亞的血為止，在地上所流的義人的血都要歸在你們身上。

因為你們從起初所聽見的信息是這樣的：我們要彼此相愛。不要像該隱，他屬於那惡者，殺了自己的弟弟。他為什麼殺弟弟呢？因為他自己的行為是惡的，而他弟弟的行為是義的。

耶和華說：「你做了什麼呢？你弟弟的血從地裡發聲向我呼叫。

來到了耶穌面前——他是新約的中保；來到了所灑的血面前——這血比亞伯的血所述說的更美好。

惡人的祭物，為耶和華所憎惡；正直人的禱告，為他所悅納。

他們有禍了！因為他們走了「該隱的路」，又為財利奔上「巴蘭的迷途」，並且在「科拉的背叛」中滅亡了。

惡人的祭物尚且可憎，更何況他獻祭時居心不良呢！

該隱與他的弟弟亞伯說話。他們在田野的時候，該隱就起來攻擊他的弟弟亞伯，把他殺了。

就是從亞伯的血起，直到在祭壇和聖所之間被殺的撒迦利亞的血為止。「是的，我告訴你們：這世代將要為此被追討。

按照律法，幾乎一切都是用血潔淨的；沒有流血，就沒有赦免。

耶和華對他說：「如果是這樣，任何殺死該隱的人，都必受到七倍的報復。」耶和華就在該隱身上放了一個標記，免得找到他的人會擊殺他。

亞當再次與妻子同寢，夏娃就生了一個兒子，並給他起名為塞特，因為她說：「神給我立了另一個後裔代替亞伯，因為該隱殺了他。」

因此，我們既然有這麼一大群見證人，如同雲彩圍繞著我們，就讓我們脫去各樣的重擔和容易纏累我們的罪，藉著忍耐去跑那擺在我們前面的賽程，

他們聲稱認識神，卻在行為上否認他。他們是可憎惡的、悖逆的，在任何美善的工作上都經不起考驗。
