You shall do so for six days.Also seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, everyone straight ahead.”So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them,“ Take up the ark of the covenant, and have seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark of the Lord.”Then he said to the people,“ Go forward and march around the city, and the armed men shall go on ahead of the ark of the Lord.”And it was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord went forward and blew the trumpets; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.And the armed men went ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while they continued to blow the trumpets.But Joshua commanded the people, saying,“ You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, nor let a word proceed from your mouth, until the day I tell you,‘ Shout!’ Then you shall shout!”So he had the ark of the Lord taken around the city, circling it once; then they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp.Now Joshua got up early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.Then the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark of the Lord went on continually, and blew the trumpets; and the armed men went ahead of them, and the rear guard came after the ark of the Lord, while they continued to blow the trumpets.

But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth.

And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.Then David defeated Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the Euphrates River.And David captured from him 1,700 horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung almost all the chariot horses, but left enough of them for a hundred chariots.When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David killed twenty two thousand men among the Arameans.Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.And from Betah and Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a very large amount of bronze.Now when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer,Toi sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and bless him, because he had fought Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, gold, and bronze.King David also consecrated these gifts to the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had consecrated from all the nations which he had subdued:from Aram, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoils of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.So David made a name for himself when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Arameans in the Valley of Salt.He also put garrisons in Edom. In all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

And when he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king began speaking and said to Daniel,“ Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you continually serve, been able to rescue you from the lions?”Then Daniel spoke to the king,“ O king, live forever!My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, since I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”Then the king was very glad and gave orders for Daniel to be lifted up out of the den. So Daniel was lifted up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say,“ And to seeds,” as one would in referring to many, but rather as in referring to one,“ And to your seed,” that is, Christ.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and the one who had received the promises was offering up his only son;

David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years.At Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned for thirty three years over all Israel and Judah.Now the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land; and they said to David,“ You shall not come in here, but even those who are blind and those who limp will turn you away,” thinking,“ David cannot enter here.”Nevertheless, David captured the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David.And David said on that day,“ Whoever strikes the Jebusites is to reach those who limp and those who are blind, who are hated by David’s soul, through the water tunnel.” For that reason they say,“ People who are blind and people who limp shall not come into the house.”So David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward.David became greater and greater, for the Lord God of armies was with him.Then Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, carpenters, and stonemasons; and they built a house for David.And David realized that the Lord had appointed him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.Meanwhile David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he came from Hebron; and more sons and daughters were born to David.Now these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek out David; and when David heard about it, he went down to the stronghold.Now the Philistines came and overran the Valley of Rephaim.So David inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You hand them over to me?” And the Lord said to David,“ Go up, for I will certainly hand the Philistines over to you.”Then David came to Baal perazim and defeated them there; and he said,“ The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters.” Therefore he named that place Baal perazim.And the Philistines abandoned their idols there, so David and his men carried them away.Now the Philistines came up once again and overran the Valley of Rephaim.So David inquired of the Lord, but He said,“ You shall not go directly up; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the baka shrubs.And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the baka shrubs, then you shall act promptly, for then the Lord will have gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”Then David did so, just as the Lord had commanded him; he struck and killed the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

even from the day that I appointed judges over My people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. The Lord also declares to you that the Lord will make a house for you.When your days are finished and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from you, and I will establish his kingdom.He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and with strokes of sons of mankind,but My favor shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from you.Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”In accordance with all these words and all of this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
