By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

We have faith. So we understand that everything was made when God commanded it. That’s why we believe that what we see was not made out of what could be seen.

Our Lord and God, you are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because you have created all things, and by your will they exist and were created.

The God who made the world and everything in it— he is Lord of heaven and earth— does not live in shrines made by hands.

Look up and see! Who created these? He brings out the stars by number; he calls all of them by name. Because of his great power and strength, not one of them is missing.

And God saw that it was good.Then God said,“ Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.”So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.God blessed them, and God said to them,“ Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.”God also said,“ Look, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the surface of the entire earth and every tree whose fruit contains seed. This will be food for you,for all the wildlife of the earth, for every bird of the sky, and for every creature that crawls on the earth— everything having the breath of life in it— I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.God saw all that he had made, and it was very good indeed. Evening came and then morning: the sixth day.So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed.

since what can be known about God is evident among them, because God has shown it to them.For his invisible attributes, that is, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what he has made. As a result, people are without excuse.For though they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became worthless, and their senseless hearts were darkened.

You are to say this to them:“ The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from under these heavens.”

Jacob’s Portion is not like these because he is the one who formed all things. Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the LORD of Armies is his name.

“ People! Why are you doing these things? We are people also, just like you, and we are proclaiming good news to you, that you turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.
