By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

於是摩西把以色列眾長老召了來，對他們說：『你們要按着家口挑取羊羔，把這逾越節的羊羔宰了。要拿一把脣形薄荷，蘸碗盆裏的血，將碗盆裏的血打在門楣上、和兩邊的門柱上；直到早晨、你們誰也不可出自己的房門口。因為永恆主要巡行、來擊死埃及人；他看見有血在門楣上和兩邊的門柱上，永恆主就會把那門越過去，不容那滅命者進你們的房屋來擊死你們。這個禮節你們要守着，給你和你子孫做定例到永遠。將來你們到了永恆主按所應許而賜給你們的地，總要守這事奉禮。將來你們的兒女若問你們說：「這事奉禮對你們有甚麼意思？」你們就要說：「這是獻給永恆主的逾越節之祭。當以色列人在埃及、永恆主擊死了埃及人的時候，他越過以色列人的房屋，援救了我們的家。」』於是人民俯伏敬拜。以色列人就去辦理；永恆主怎樣吩咐摩西、亞倫，以色列人就怎樣行。到了半夜，永恆主擊殺了埃及地一切頭胎生的；從坐王位的法老的長子、到在地牢裏的俘虜的長子，以及所有頭胎的牲口，都擊殺了。法老和眾臣僕、跟埃及眾人、夜裏起來：全埃及都大哀號，因為沒有一家不死一個人的。

你們要告訴以色列全會眾說：本月十日、他們要取小羊，各按父系的家屬，一家一隻。若是一家太小、喫不了一隻小羊，就要和附近他家的鄰居按着人數去取：你們取小羊，要按着每人所能喫的分量計算。你們的小羊要完全沒有殘疾、一歲以內公的：從綿羊裏或山羊裏取都可以。要留到本月十四日；傍晚時分，以色列會眾全體大眾要把羊羔宰了。他們要取點血，塗在喫羊羔的房屋，兩邊的門柱上和門楣上。就在這一夜裏、要喫那肉，用火烤了，和無酵餅拌着苦菜喫。不可喫生的；斷不可用水煮；總要連頭和腿帶臟腑、用火烤了喫。一點也不可留到早晨；若有一點留到早晨，就要用火燒掉。你們要這樣喫：腰間束着帶，腳上穿着鞋，手中拿着行杖，慌慌張張地喫：這是向永恆主守的逾越節。這一夜裏、我要巡行埃及地，把埃及地一切頭胎生的、無論是人是牲口、都擊殺掉；埃及一切神明我也要判罰：我永恆主。在你所住的房屋上、這血要給你們做記號；我一見這血。就把你們越過去；我擊打埃及地的時候，就不至於有疫病臨到你們身上來滅你們。『這一日要給你們做記念日：你們要守為敬拜永恆主的節；要世世代代地守，作為永遠的條例。

當時各條誡命既由摩西按照律法向眾民宣講了，他就拿牛犢山羊的血，用水和朱紅絨跟牛膝草、灑在那書卷上，並且灑在眾民身上，

並有新約的中保耶穌、以及灑撒之血、比亞伯說得更好的。

照父上帝所豫知、靠靈之聖化、而聽從耶穌基督、受他血灑的。願你們多多蒙恩平安。
