說：“你們給希伯來婦人接生的時候，要看著她們臨盆；若是男孩，你們要殺死他；若是女孩，她就可以活著。”

就在那時候，摩西出生了，他非常俊美，在父親的家中撫養了三個月。

那女人懷孕，生了一個兒子；見他俊美，就把他藏了三個月。直到她不能把他再藏了，就拿一個蒲草箱來，塗上瀝青和石漆；把孩子放在裡面，把箱子放在河邊的蘆葦叢中。孩子的姊姊遠遠地站著，要知道孩子究竟怎樣。那時，法老的女兒下到河邊去洗澡；她的使女們在河邊行走；她看見了在蘆葦中的箱子，就打發自己的使女去把箱子拿過來。她打開了，就看見那孩子；看哪，孩子哭了，她就憐憫他，說：“這是希伯來人的一個孩子。”孩子的姊姊對法老的女兒說：“我去從希伯來婦人中給你請一個奶媽來，為你乳養這個孩子可以嗎？”法老的女兒回答：“你去吧。”童女就去把孩子的母親請了來。法老的女兒對她說：“你把這孩子抱去，替我乳養他，我必給你工錢。”婦人就抱了孩子去乳養他。孩子長大了，婦人把他帶到法老的女兒那裡，他就作了法老女兒的兒子。她給孩子起名叫摩西，說：“因為我把他從水裡拉出來。”

“我的朋友，我告訴你們，那殺身體以後不能再作甚麼的，不要怕他們。我要指示你們當怕的是誰：當怕那殺身體以後，有權把人投入地獄裡的；我告訴你們，應當怕他。

蟲子雅各啊！以色列人哪！你不要懼怕。我必幫助你；這是耶和華說的。你的救贖主，就是以色列的聖者。

那些殺身體卻不能殺靈魂的，不要怕他們；倒要怕那位能把靈魂和身體都投入地獄裡的。

耶和華是我的幫助，我決不害怕，人能把我怎麼樣呢？

所以我們可以放膽說：“主是我的幫助，我決不害怕，人能把我怎麼樣呢？”

不要懼怕，因為我與你同在；不要四處張望，因為我是你的神，我必堅固你，我必幫助你；我必用公義的右手扶持你。

沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌回答王說：“尼布甲尼撒啊！這件事我們無需回答你。如果我們被扔在火窰裡，我們所事奉的神必能拯救我們；王啊！他必拯救我們脫離烈火的窰和你的手。（本節或譯：“如果我們所事奉的神能拯救我們，王啊！他必拯救我們脫離烈火的窰和你的手。”）即或不然，王啊！你要知道，我們決不事奉你的神，也不向你所立的金像下拜。”

但以理知道這文告簽署了以後，就上到自己家裡樓頂上的房間，這房間的窗戶朝向耶路撒冷開著；他一日三次雙膝跪下，在他的神面前禱告稱謝，像往日一樣。

“我，我耶和華是安慰你們的；你是誰，竟怕那會死的人，怕那被造如草的世人呢？

靠著神，我要讚美他的話；我倚靠神，就必不懼怕，人能把我怎麼樣呢？

認識公義，把我的訓誨存在心裡的人民哪！你們要聽我的話。你們不要怕人的辱罵，也不要因人的毀謗而驚惶。

“這子民所稱為陰謀的，你們都不要稱為陰謀；他們所怕的，你們不要怕，也不要畏懼。你們要尊萬軍之耶和華為聖，他是你們當怕的，也是你們當畏懼的。
