我未至埃及、爾所生二子以法蓮、馬拿西、當視為吾子、比之流便、西面。嗣後有所生、則為爾子、必與兄弟共其業。昔我自巴坦至迦南、途間、去以法大無幾、拉結死、我葬之以法大途側、後名伯利恆即其地。○以色列見約瑟二子、曰、此為誰。約瑟曰、蒙上帝於斯土、賜我二子。曰、可攜之前、我為祝嘏。以色列年邁、目眯不明、約瑟攜子於前、以色列吻而抱之、謂約瑟曰、吾不意覿爾面、上帝復使睹爾子。約瑟令二子暫離膝前、而自拜伏於地。後攜二子、右執以法蓮、向以色列左、左執馬拿西、向以色列右、如是而前。以色列以右手按季子以法蓮首、左手按長子馬拿西首、非出無意。為約瑟二子祝嘏、曰、昔我祖父亞伯拉罕以撒所崇事之上帝、我生及今牧我之上帝、拯我出患難之天使、願錫嘏童蒙、當為吾子、為吾祖父亞伯拉罕以撒子孫、使昌熾於地。○約瑟見父以右手按以法蓮首、意有不悅、乃舉父手、欲自以法蓮首、移於馬拿西首、曰、吾父不可、此乃長子、請按右手於其首。父不許、曰、吾子、我知之矣。此子亦將昌大、為一族之祖、惟季必超越於長、其裔必為群族祖。是日以色列為二子祝嘏、曰、斯後以色列族將為人祝曰、願上帝使爾福祉、若以法蓮、馬拿西然。於是立以法蓮於馬拿西之先。○以色列語約瑟曰、我死期將至、上帝必祐爾、使爾返於爾祖所旅之處。昔我以刃以弓、奪亞摩哩人之地、必以頒爾、較諸昆為尤多。

曰必發誓、即誓之。以色列乃倚床而拜上帝。厥後、或告約瑟曰、爾父有疾。約瑟攜二子、馬拿西、以法蓮至。
