He is our father in the presence of God whom he believed– the God who makes the dead alive and summons the things that do not yet exist as though they already do.Against hope Abraham believed in hope with the result that he became the father of many nations according to the pronouncement,“ so will your descendants be.”Without being weak in faith, he considered his own body as dead( because he was about one hundred years old) and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.He did not waver in unbelief about the promise of God but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.He was fully convinced that what God promised he was also able to do.

On the third day Abraham caught sight of the place in the distance.So he said to his servants,“ You two stay here with the donkey while the boy and I go up there. We will worship and then return to you.”

When he went into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus said to them,“ Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him,“ Yes, Lord.”

Abraham looked up and saw behind him a ram caught in the bushes by its horns. So he went over and got the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.

Now to him who by the power that is working within us is able to do far beyond all that we ask or think,

By faith, even though Sarah herself was barren and he was too old, he received the ability to procreate, because he regarded the one who had given the promise to be trustworthy.So in fact children were fathered by one man– and this one as good as dead– like the number of stars in the sky and like the innumerable grains of sand on the seashore.

For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with hands– the representation of the true sanctuary– but into heaven itself, and he appears now in God’s presence for us.

Yet death reigned from Adam until Moses even over those who did not sin in the same way that Adam( who is a type of the coming one) transgressed.
