By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son,

亞伯拉罕被試時有信、而獻子以撒於上帝、

亞伯拉罕有信、被試時、獻以撒、此乃蒙應許者、獻其獨子、

且當亞伯漢之見試也、毅然以依灑格為獻夫彼乃承受恩諾之人也；

By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,

Abraham had faith. So when God tested him, Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham had held on tightly to the promises. But he was about to offer his one and only son.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,

It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,

Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey; and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.Abraham said to his young men,“ Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there. We will worship, and come back to you.”Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said,“ My father?” He said,“ Here I am, my son.” He said,“ Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”Abraham said,“ God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.Yahweh’s angel called to him out of the sky, and said,“ Abraham, Abraham!” He said,“ Here I am.”He said,“ Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

and said,“‘ I have sworn by myself,’ says Yahweh,‘ because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,

Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.

Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected.So the Scripture was fulfilled which says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith.

Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials,that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—

but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.

The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but Yahweh tests the hearts.

Some of those who are wise will fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say,‘ It is my people;’ and they will say,‘ Yahweh is my God.’”

You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

However concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”Yahweh said to Satan,“ Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh.

For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have.

Yahweh said to Satan,“ Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil. He still maintains his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause.”Satan answered Yahweh, and said,“ Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.But stretch out your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce you to your face.”Yahweh said to Satan,“ Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life.”

“ But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like launderers’ soap;and he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer to Yahweh offerings in righteousness.
