By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten[ son],

且當亞伯漢之見試也、毅然以依灑格為獻夫彼乃承受恩諾之人也；

By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,

Abraham had faith. So when God tested him, Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham had held on tightly to the promises. But he was about to offer his one and only son.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,

It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,

And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold,[ here] I[ am].And he said, Take now thy son, thine only[ son] Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid[ it] upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here[ am] I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where[ is] the lamb for a burnt offering?And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here[ am] I.And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only[ son] from me.

And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only[ son]:

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

The fining pot[ is] for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.

And[ some] of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make[ them] white,[ even] to the time of the end: because[ it is] yet for a time appointed.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It[ is] my people: and they shall say, The LORD[ is] my God.

And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee,[ and] to prove thee, to know what[ was] in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;Knowing[ this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.But let patience have[ her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Howbeit in[ the business of] the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was[ done] in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all[ that was] in his heart.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath[ is] in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

For if there be first a willing mind,[ it is] accepted according to that a man hath,[ and] not according to that he hath not.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that[ there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he[ is] in thine hand; but save his life.

But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he[ is] like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:And he shall sit[ as] a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
