By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,

亞伯拉罕有信、見試時獻以撒、即欣承諸許者、獻其獨生之子、

亞伯拉罕被試時有信、而獻子以撒於上帝、

亞伯拉罕有信、被試時、獻以撒、此乃蒙應許者、獻其獨子、

且當亞伯漢之見試也、毅然以依灑格為獻夫彼乃承受恩諾之人也；

By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,

Abraham had faith. So when God tested him, Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham had held on tightly to the promises. But he was about to offer his one and only son.

It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac. He received the promises and yet he was offering his one and only son,

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and the one who had received the promises was offering up his only son;

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son,

After these things God tested Abraham and said to him,“ Abraham!” And he said,“ Here I am.”He said,“ Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar.Then Abraham said to his young men,“ Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you.”And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together.And Isaac said to his father Abraham,“ My father!” And he said,“ Here I am, my son.” He said,“ Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”Abraham said,“ God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together.When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said,“ Abraham, Abraham!” And he said,“ Here I am.”He said,“ Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

and said,“ By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works;and the Scripture was fulfilled that says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”— and he was called a friend of God.You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,so that the tested genuineness of your faith— more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire— may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

But this man who does not have his descent from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tests hearts.

and some of the wise shall stumble, so that they may be refined, purified, and made white, until the time of the end, for it still awaits the appointed time.

“ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say,‘ They are my people’; and they will say,‘ The Lord is my God.’”

And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

And so in the matter of the envoys of the princes of Babylon, who had been sent to him to inquire about the sign that had been done in the land, God left him to himself, in order to test him and to know all that was in his heart.

But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.”And the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.

And the Lord said to Satan,“ Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you incited me against him to destroy him without reason.”Then Satan answered the Lord and said,“ Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life.But stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.”And the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, he is in your hand; only spare his life.”

But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap.He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord.
