並且堅確地相信、有話應許的、上帝必有能力實行。

以撒說：『你看我老邁了，不知道哪一天死。你現在拿你的器械、你的箭囊和弓，出去到野地裏，給我打點野味來；照我所愛的給我作成美味，拿進來給我喫；我好在未死之先、全心全意地給你祝福。』

親愛的，我勸你們做僑民做寄居的、要禁戒那對你們的靈魂交戰的肉體私慾；

你們既是呼求一位不以貌取人、乃按各人的行為施審判的父，就該存着敬畏的心、來度你們僑居世間的時光。

約瑟對他弟兄們說：『我快要死了；但上帝必定眷顧你們，領你們從這地上去、到他所起誓應許給亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的地。』

我在地上是寄居者；不要向我隱瞞你的誡命哦！

以色列對約瑟說：『看吧，我快要死了，但上帝必與你們同在；必領你們回到你們列祖之地。

『我算甚麼，我的人民算甚麼，竟有力量能這樣甘心自願地奉獻呀？萬物都是從你而來的；我們只把從你手裏得來的獻與你罷了。我們在你面前是寄居寄住的僑民、像我們列祖一樣；我們在地上的日子如同影兒，沒有指望長久。

雅各對他的眾子吩咐完了，就把腳收在床上，氣絕而死，被收殮歸他先族人。

我看他，卻不是在現時；我望着他，卻不是臨近的：必有一顆星從雅各而出，必有權柄之杖從以色列中興起；他必擊碎摩押的鬢邊、和鬨嚷之人的頭頂。

以賽亞說了這些話，是因為他看見主的榮耀，而指着主來說的。）

權柄之杖必不離開猶大，指揮之棍必不離開他兩腿之間，直到屬他的那位來到，萬族之民都歸順他。

這一切是以色列的族派，一共十二個；這也是他們父親對他們所說的話，給他們所祝的福：他是按着各人的福分給他們祝福的。
