Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead,[ so many] as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

故自一人猶已死者、生育如天星之繁多、海沙之無數、○

是以一人血氣雖衰、生育蕃衍、如眾星之在天、猶海沙之無量、

故由一人、身若已死者、生育蕃衍、如天星之眾、如海沙之無數、

因此之故、以一衰邁瀕死之人、其所出子孫、如天上之星、海濱之沙、有不可勝數者焉。

And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.

Abraham was past the time when he could have children. But many children came from that one man. They were as many as the stars in the sky. They were as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. No one could count them.

Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead— a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.

Therefore, from one man— in fact, from one as good as dead— came offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and as innumerable as the grains of sand along the seashore.

Therefore even from one man, and one who was as good as dead at that, there were born descendants who were just as the stars of heaven in number, and as the innumerable grains of sand along the seashore.

Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude— innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea- shore, innumerable.

So in fact children were fathered by one man– and this one as good as dead– like the number of stars in the sky and like the innumerable grains of sand on the seashore.

Therefore as many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as innumerable as the sand which is by the sea shore, were fathered by one man, and him as good as dead.

That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which[ is] upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass,[ that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye[ are] not my people,[ there] it shall be said unto them,[ Ye are] the sons of the living God.

As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea,[ yet] a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

( As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed,[ even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:

And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that[ is] upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye[ are] this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess[ it].

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit[ it] for ever.

And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom[ is] as the sand of the sea.

And he said unto them, The LORD[ is] witness against you, and his anointed[ is] witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered,[ He is] witness.

And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels[ were] without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.

And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.

Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that[ is] by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Judah and Israel[ were] many, as the sand which[ is] by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up[ as] the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.
