“ What are all your sacrifices to me?” asks the LORD.“ I have had enough of burnt offerings and rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I have no desire for the blood of bulls, lambs, or male goats.

Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: See, the virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.

You do not delight in sacrifice and offering; you open my ears to listen. You do not ask for a whole burnt offering or a sin offering.Then I said,“ See, I have come; in the scroll it is written about me.I delight to do your will, my God, and your instruction is deep within me.”

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree; so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,“ Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel, which is translated“ God is with us.”

Again, when he brings his firstborn into the world, he says, And let all God’s angels worship him.

By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.

Then I said,“ See— it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, God.”

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death— that is, the devil—

I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or for your burnt offerings, which are continually before me.I will not take a bull from your household or male goats from your pens,for every animal of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.I know every bird of the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and everything in it is mine.Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?Offer a thanksgiving sacrifice to God, and pay your vows to the Most High.Call on me in a day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will honor me.”But God says to the wicked:“ What right do you have to recite my statutes and to take my covenant on your lips?You hate instruction and fling my words behind you.When you see a thief, you make friends with him, and you associate with adulterers.You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue for deceit.You sit, maligning your brother, slandering your mother’s son.You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But I will rebuke you and lay out the case before you.“ Understand this, you who forget God, or I will tear you apart, and there will be no one to rescue you.Whoever offers a thanksgiving sacrifice honors me, and whoever orders his conduct, I will show him the salvation of God.”

When the time came to completion, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

The angel replied to her,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.

I hate, I despise, your feasts! I can’t stand the stench of your solemn assemblies.Even if you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; I will have no regard for your fellowship offerings of fattened cattle.

How long will you turn here and there, faithless daughter? For the LORD creates something new in the land— a female will shelter a man.

And most certainly, the mystery of godliness is great: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,but every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming; even now it is already in the world.

and asked him,“ Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; therefore, it was necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.

and sent them to the Lord, asking,“ Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

What use to me is frankincense from Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please me.
