蓋我在縲絏、爾體恤之、人奪爾業、爾喜受之、自知在天有愈美恆存之業、

蓋我在縲絏之中、爾體恤我、或作蓋人在縲絏爾體恤之人奪爾業、爾忍之而喜、自知在天有愈美恆在之業、

爾等不惟體恤囹圄中人、即自己產業之被劫奪、亦能逆來順受、且欣然自樂、固知另有盡善盡美、可大可久之嗣業在也。

You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.

You suffered along with people in prison. When your property was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew that God had given you better and more lasting things.

Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded[ him] to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go[ and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come[ and] follow me.

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see[ you], and to speak with[ you]: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
