此亦所以為來日自培美基、以把握真生命耳。

然所需者、一而已矣！瑪麗所選、乃其善者、志之所在、不可奪也。』

當罄售所有、博施濟眾、自製不敝之囊、積無盡之藏於天、盜不得而近之、蠹不得而蝕焉。

以篤永望；此望也、爾等於福音之真傳中、夙已聞之、且為爾等預儲於天矣。

予之所以身被桎梏、一若匪徒者、惟為斯福音而已。雖然、天主之道、則無人能加以桎梏也。

我兄弟如陷於殷憂多難之中、則當引以為樂。

是故吾以因主被囚之身、剴切勸爾修身砥行、無忝爾之聖召、

爾等為予之故、而被人詬詈迫辱、多方誣衊者、斯為真福、是宜歡欣踴躍、灑然而樂。蓋爾之天爵大矣。前輩先知被人迫辱、亦猶是耳。

吾人現世暫寓之逆旅、固有土崩瓦解之時。然吾人在天有一永久之安宅焉。此宅也、非人手所造、乃天主之所賜也。

千總乃將葆樂逮繫、加以雙鏈。詢為何人、所犯何事。

爾毋儲富於地；蠹蝕焉、銹敗焉、竊者穿窬而盜焉。惟宜儲富於天、既無蠹蝕銹敗、又無盜竊穿窬之虞。

因此、我葆樂竟為爾異邦人之故、而作基督耶穌之囚徒矣。

耶穌曰：『欲為完人、往售所有、施於貧人、積寶於天、再來從我。』

此則予所深信不疑者也。且予對爾懷此感想、允非過情；蓋爾我神交心契、實為一體；故予之縲絏、亦即爾之縲絏；予之護道樹教、爾托主恩、亦與有功焉、

蓋我已為福音之故而成為被鍊加鎖之星使。果能不為威武所屈、侃侃而談、庶幾不辱使命、是所至願也。

宗徒既離公會、心竊自喜、竟蒙特寵、得為聖名而受辱、何樂如之。

以是予邀汝等相見、與汝等言蓋予之所以鎯鐺被身者、乃為義塞人所共望之事耳。』

今而後已有正義之榮冠、備以待我；一俟彼日之臨、公明之主、將以斯冠加諸我首；豈惟於我為然、凡渴望其來臨者、亦莫不然也。
