不惟自身受垢蒙辱、若優伶之演劇、供眾一粲；即同道中有遭此垢辱者、爾等亦莫不痛苦身受。

Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.

弟兄們，你們好像猶太地在基督耶穌裡神的眾教會一樣，他們怎樣遭受猶太人的迫害，你們也照樣遭受同族人的迫害。

然而，你們一同分擔了我的患難，實在是好的。

我要把污穢可憎之物拋在你身上，侮辱你，使你成為眾人觀看的對象。

神啊！求你起來，為你的案件辯護，要記得愚頑人終日對你的辱罵。

為你們眾人我有這樣的思想是很恰當的，因為你們常常在我的心裡，無論我是在捆鎖之中，或是在辯護和證實福音的時候，你們都和我一同分享神的恩典。

眾人都以我為怪，但你是我堅固的避難所。

主啊！願你把我們鄰國羞辱你的羞辱，七倍歸還在他們身上。

那麼，讓我們也出到營外到他那裡去，擔當他的凌辱。

大祭司約書亞啊！你和坐在你面前的眾同伴都要聽，（他們都是預表將來奇事的人，）我必使我的僕人，就是大衛的苗裔出生。

所以，不要以給我們的主作見證當作羞恥，也不要以我這為主被囚的當作羞恥，卻要為了福音的緣故，靠著神的大能，與我同受磨難。

在他看來，為著基督受的凌辱，比埃及的財物更寶貴，因為他注視將來的賞賜。

耶和華啊！你的仇敵用這羞辱羞辱了你的僕人，羞辱了你受膏者的腳蹤。

又有些人遭受了戲弄、鞭打，甚至捆鎖、監禁；

認識公義，把我的訓誨存在心裡的人民哪！你們要聽我的話。你們不要怕人的辱罵，也不要因人的毀謗而驚惶。

因我為你的殿，心中迫切如同火燒；辱罵你的人的辱罵，都落在我身上。

願主賜憐憫給阿尼色弗一家的人，因為他多次使我暢快，也不以我的鎖鍊為恥；他竟然來到羅馬，迫切地尋找我，結果找到了。（願主在那日使他從主那裡得著憐憫。）你也清楚知道他在以弗所是怎樣多方服事我。

因此，我為基督的緣故，就以軟弱、凌辱、艱難、迫害、困苦為喜樂，因為我甚麼時候軟弱，甚麼時候就剛強了。
