但此祭、使人每年記憶其罪耳、

然稽諸事實、則歲歲獻祭、年年懷罪。

But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins.

However, Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once a year; he shall make atonement on it with the blood of the sin offering of atonement once a year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”

Then Aaron shall offer the bull as the sin offering, which is for himself, so that he may make atonement for himself and for his household.He shall then take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the doorway of the tent of meeting.Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat.Then Aaron shall offer the goat on which the lot for the Lord fell, and make it a sin offering.But the goat on which the lot for the scapegoat fell shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make atonement upon it, to send it into the wilderness as the scapegoat.“ Then Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering which is for himself and make atonement for himself and for his household, and he shall slaughter the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.

Now you shall have this as a permanent statute, to make atonement for the sons of Israel for all their sins once every year.” And just as the Lord had commanded Moses, so he did.

for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

“ On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble yourselves and present an offering by fire to the Lord.You shall not do any work on this very day, for it is a Day of Atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God.

“ This shall be a permanent statute for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble yourselves and not do any work, whether the native, or the stranger who resides among you;for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the wrongdoings of the sons of Israel and all their unlawful acts regarding all their sins; and he shall place them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who stands ready.Then the goat shall carry on itself all their wrongdoings to an isolated territory; he shall release the goat in the wilderness.

‘ Then on the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy assembly, and you shall humble yourselves; you shall not do any work.You shall present a burnt offering to the Lord as a soothing aroma: one bull, one ram, and seven male lambs one year old, that you have without defect;and their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil: three tenths of an ephah for the bull, two tenths for the one ram,and a tenth for each of the seven lambs;one male goat as a sin offering, besides the sin offering of atonement and the continual burnt offering, and its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

So she said to Elijah,“ Why is my business any of yours, you man of God? Yet you have come to me to bring my wrongdoing to remembrance, and to put my son to death!”
