The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming— not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

原来，一方面，先前的条例因着本身的软弱和无用，就被废弃了，因为律法没有使任何事物完全；另一方面，一个更美好的盼望却被带来了；藉着这个盼望，我们可以亲近神。

不过基督已经来到，做了那些已经发生的美善之事的大祭司，经过了那更大、更完美的会幕。那会幕不是人手所造的；就是说，不属于这被造的世界。

既然那些诸天之上事物的模型，必须用这些祭物来洁净，那天上事物的本体就必须用比这些更好的祭物来洁净，

圣灵指明这一点：只要第一间会幕还存在，进入至圣所的道路就还没有显明出来。这会幕是现今时代的一个象征，在这里所献上的礼物和祭物，并不能使事奉者的良心得以完全，

他也不用再三地将自己献上，像大祭司年年带着牛羊的血进入圣所那样，

所有的祭司天天都站着服事，再三地献上同样的祭物，但这些祭物绝不能把罪孽除掉，而这一位为赎罪孽献上了一个永远的祭物，就在神的右边坐下了，此后一直等候他的敌人被放在他的脚下做脚凳。事实上，他藉着一个供物，使那些被分别为圣的人永远得以完全。圣灵也向我们做见证，因为他说过：“主说：‘在那些日子以后，我要与他们订立这样的约：我要把我的法则放在他们的心上，刻在他们的意念中。’”然后又说：“我绝不再想起他们的罪孽和他们的罪恶。”所以在哪里这些罪得了赦免，在哪里就不再有赎罪的供物了。

然而这些祭物使人年年都想起罪孽来，因为公牛和山羊的血，不可能把罪孽除去。
