The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming— not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

但基督已经来了，作了已经实现的美好事物的大祭司；他经过更大、更完备的会幕（不是人手所做的，也就是不属于这被造的世界的）。

照着天上样式作的既然必须这样去洁净，天上物体的本身，就应该用更美的祭品去洁净了。

圣灵藉着这事表明，当第一进会幕存在的时候，进入至圣所的路，还没有显明出来。这第一进会幕是现今的时代的预表，其实所献的礼物和祭品，都不能使敬拜的人在良心上得到完全。

他不必多次把自己献上，好像大祭司每年带着不是自己的血进入至圣所一样。

所有的祭司都是天天站着事奉，多次献上同样的祭品，那些祭品永远不能把罪除去。唯有基督献上了一次永远有效的赎罪祭，就在神的右边坐下来。此后，只是等待神把他的仇敌放在他的脚下，作他的脚凳。因为他献上了一次的祭，就使那些成圣的人永远得到完全。圣灵也向我们作见证，因为后来他说过：“主说：‘在那些日子以后，我要与他们所立的约是这样：我要把我的律法放在他们的心思里面，写在他们的心上。’”又说：“我决不再记着他们的罪恶，和不法的行为。”这一切既然都赦免了，就不必再为罪献祭了。

可是那些祭品，却使人每年都想起罪来，因为公牛和山羊的血不能把罪除去。
