The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming— not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

以前的条例由于本身的弱点和无益被废除了，因为律法并没有使人变得纯全。但如今，我们可以借着一个更美好的盼望来到上帝面前。

现在基督已经来到，做了美好新约的大祭司，祂进入了那更伟大、更全备、非人手建造、不属于这个世界的圣幕。

既然仿照天上的样式所造的器具需要用祭牲的血来洁净，天上的原物当然要用更美的祭物来洁净。

圣灵借此指明，只要头一个圣幕还在，进入至圣所的路就还没有开启。这件事是一个象征，告诉现今的世代：所献的礼物和祭物都不能使敬拜的人良心纯全，

祂在天上不必一次又一次地把自己献上，好像那些大祭司年年都带着牛羊的血进入至圣所。

祭司都要天天站着供职，一次次地献上同样的祭物，只是这些祭物根本不能除罪。而基督一次献上自己成为永远的赎罪祭后，就坐在上帝的右边，等待祂的仇敌成为祂的脚凳。祂凭自己的一次牺牲，使那些得以圣洁的人永远纯全。圣灵也向我们做见证，说：“主说，那些日子以后，我将与他们立这样的约，我要把我的律例放在他们心中，写在他们脑中。我要忘记他们的过犯和罪恶。”既然过犯和罪恶已经得到赦免，就不需要再为罪献祭了。

然而，每年献祭的事都使人想起自己的罪来，因为公牛和山羊的血根本不能除去人的罪。
