‘ From this day on, from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, give careful thought to the day when the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid. Give careful thought:

It is the 24th day of the ninth month. From this day on, here is what you should think carefully about. Think about the day when the foundation of my temple was laid.

Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid, consider:

“ Think about this eighteenth day of December, the day when the foundation of the Lord’s Temple was laid. Think carefully.

From this day on, think carefully; from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid; think carefully.

‘ Consider now from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid— consider it:

Consider, I pray you, from this day and backward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Jehovah’s temple was laid, consider it.

“ Consider carefully from this day forward; from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid; consider it carefully.

Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth[ month, even] from the day that the foundation of the LORD’S temple was laid, consider[ it].

‘ Think carefully about the past: from today, the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, to the day work on the temple of the LORD was resumed, think about it.

‘ Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty- fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.

“ The Lord of armies says this:‘ Let your hands be strong, you who are listening in these days to these words from the mouth of the prophets, those who spoke in the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of armies was laid, so that the temple might be built.

But now, do consider from this day onward: before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the Lord,

‘ For there will be the seed of peace: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce, and the heavens will provide their dew; and I will give to the remnant of this people all these things as an inheritance.

When the prophets, Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them,then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to rebuild the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.

If only they were wise and they understood this; If only they would discern their future!

On the twenty fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Haggai the prophet, saying,

But when he came to his senses, he said,‘ How many of my father’s hired laborers have more than enough bread, but I am dying here from hunger!I will set out and go to my father, and will say to him,“ Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight;I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me as one of your hired laborers.” ’So he set out and came to his father. But when he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of armies, their God,on the twenty fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king.
