Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord their God and the message of the prophet Haggai, because the Lord their God had sent him. And the people feared the Lord.

Zerubbabel was the son of Shealtiel. Joshua the high priest was the son of Jozadak. They obeyed the Lord their God. So did all the Lord’ s people who were still left alive. The Lord had given his message to them through me. He had sent me to speak to them. And the people had respect for him.

They responded favorably to the message of the prophet Haggai, who spoke just as the LORD their God had instructed him, and the people began to respect the LORD.

Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed Yahweh, their God’s voice, and the words of Haggai, the prophet, as Yahweh, their God, had sent him; and the people feared Yahweh.

你們中間誰是敬畏耶和華、聽他僕人聲音的呢？誰是行在黑暗中、沒有亮光的呢？他就當依靠耶和華的名，依賴自己的神！

聽完了這一切，結論就是：當敬畏神，謹守他的誡命，因為這是每一個人的本份。

敬畏耶和華是知識的開端，愚妄人藐視智慧和管教。

哈利路亞！敬畏耶和華、極其喜悅他誡命的，是蒙福的！

因為我們的福音傳到你們那裡，不僅是藉著話語，也是藉著能力、聖靈和充分的確信。你們知道，為了你們的緣故，我們在你們中間是怎樣為人的。你們效法了我們，也效法了主，在大患難中，懷著聖靈所賜的喜樂接受了這話語。

因此，我們既然在領受一個不能被震動的國度，就讓我們懷有感恩的心，藉此以虔誠和敬畏，照著神所喜悅的來事奉他。

雨雪怎樣從天而降，不徒然返回原處，卻滋潤大地，使地上發芽結實，讓播種的有種子，吃食的有糧食；照樣，從我口中發出的話語也不徒然返回於我，卻要成就我的意願，在我派遣它去做的事上成功。

這樣，教會在猶太、加利利、撒馬利亞全地得平安、得造就，並且懷著對主的敬畏之心不斷地前行，在聖靈的安慰中不斷地增長。

正如它在全世界，不斷地結果子和擴展；自從你們在真理中聽見並了解神恩典的那一天起，在你們中間也像這一樣，

我們之所以也不住地感謝神，是因為你們接受了從我們所聽的神的話語，沒有把它看做人的話語，而是把它看做神的話語接受了；這確實是神的話語，而且它也正在你們這些信的人裡面做工。弟兄們，你們效法了猶太地區在基督耶穌裡屬神的各教會，因為你們也受了自己同胞的苦害，就像他們受了猶太人的苦害那樣。

使者說：「不可向這少年下手，什麼也不可對他做！現在我知道你是敬畏神的，因為你沒有把你的兒子，就是你的獨生子，留下不給我。」
