Plague went before him; pestilence followed his steps.

He sent plagues ahead of him. Sickness followed behind him.

Now at midnight the LORD struck every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon, and every firstborn of the livestock.During the night Pharaoh got up, he along with all his officials and all the Egyptians, and there was a loud wailing throughout Egypt because there wasn’t a house without someone dead.

Then Moses told Aaron,“ Take your firepan, place fire from the altar in it, and add incense. Go quickly to the community and make atonement for them, because wrath has come from the LORD; the plague has begun.”So Aaron took his firepan as Moses had ordered, ran into the middle of the assembly, and saw that the plague had begun among the people. After he added incense, he made atonement for the people.He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was halted.But those who died from the plague numbered 14,700, in addition to those who died because of the Korah incident.

I will strike them with a plague and destroy them. Then I will make you into a greater and mightier nation than they are.”

They will be weak from hunger, ravaged by pestilence and bitter plague; I will unleash on them wild beasts with fangs, as well as venomous snakes that slither in the dust.

The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is fierce in wrath. The LORD takes vengeance against his foes; he is furious with his enemies.The LORD is slow to anger but great in power; the LORD will never leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath his feet.

Then the earth shook and quaked; the foundations of the mountains trembled; they shook because he burned with anger.Smoke rose from his nostrils, and consuming fire came from his mouth; coals were set ablaze by it.He bent the heavens and came down, total darkness beneath his feet.He rode on a cherub and flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.He made darkness his hiding place, dark storm clouds his canopy around him.From the radiance of his presence, his clouds swept onward with hail and blazing coals.The LORD thundered from heaven; the Most High made his voice heard.
