耶和華啊，你所管教、用律法教導的人有福了！你使他在遭難的日子仍得平安，直到為惡人挖好了坑。

你們要向列國觀看，注意看，要驚奇，再驚奇！因為在你們的日子，有一件事發生，儘管有人說了，你們還是不信。看哪，我必興起迦勒底人，就是那殘忍暴躁之民，通行遍地，霸佔不屬自己的住處。他威武可畏，審判與威權都由他而出。他的馬比豹更快，比晚上的野狼更猛。他的戰馬跳躍，他的戰馬從遠方而來；他們飛跑，如鷹急速抓食，都為施行殘暴而來，他們的臉面向東，聚集俘虜，多如塵沙。他譏誚列王，嘲諷領袖，嗤笑一切堡壘，堆土攻取它。那時，他如風猛然掃過，他背叛，顯為有罪；他以自己的力量為神明。

既然上帝是公義的，他必以患難報復那加患難給你們的人，也必使你們這受患難的人與我們同得平安。那時，主耶穌同他有權能的天使從天上在火焰中顯現，要報應那些不認識上帝和不聽從我們的主耶穌福音的人。

我的百姓啊，要進入內室，關上你的門，躲避片刻，等到憤怒過去。因為，看哪，耶和華從他的居所出來，要懲罰地上居民的罪孽。地必露出其中的血，不再掩蓋被殺的人。

耶和華要從遠方、地極之處帶一國來，如鷹飛來攻擊你；這國的語言，你聽不懂。這國的人面貌兇惡，不給長者面子，也不恩待年輕人。他們必吃你牲畜所生的和你土地所產的，直到你被除滅。你的五穀、新酒和新的油，以及牛犢、羔羊，他都不給你留下，直到使你滅亡。他們必在你的各城圍困你，直到你在全地所倚靠、高大堅固的城牆都倒塌。他們必在耶和華－你上帝所賜給你全地的各城圍困你。

約雅敬的日子，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒上來；約雅敬服事他三年，以後又背叛他。耶和華派迦勒底、亞蘭、摩押和亞捫人的軍隊來攻擊約雅敬；耶和華派他們來攻擊猶大，要毀滅它，正如耶和華藉他僕人眾先知所說的話。
