It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.’” (niv)

Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself,“ My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”So Gehazi hurried after Naaman. When Naaman saw him running toward him, he got down from the chariot to meet him.“ Is everything all right?” he asked.“ Everything is all right,” Gehazi answered.“ My master sent me to say,‘ Two young men from the company of the prophets have just come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.’”“ By all means, take two talents,” said Naaman. He urged Gehazi to accept them, and then tied up the two talents of silver in two bags, with two sets of clothing. He gave them to two of his servants, and they carried them ahead of Gehazi.When Gehazi came to the hill, he took the things from the servants and put them away in the house. He sent the men away and they left.When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him,“ Where have you been, Gehazi?”“ Your servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered.But Elisha said to him,“ Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or to accept clothes— or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves?Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprous— it had become as white as snow. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath.They took the things from the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and spread them out before the Lord.Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.Joshua said,“ Why have you brought this trouble on us? The Lord will bring trouble on you today.” Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them.Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since. (niv)

He and his two daughters lived in a cave.One day the older daughter said to the younger,“ Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children— as is the custom all over the earth.Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.”That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.The next day the older daughter said to the younger,“ Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.”So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab; he is the father of the Moabites of today.The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the Ammonites of today.
