Woe to those who are mighty to drink wine, and champions at mixing strong drink;who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice for the innocent!

What do you plot against Yahweh? He will make a full end. Affliction won’t rise up the second time.For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble.

But he gives more grace. Therefore it says,“ God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you;

Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying,“ Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms,who made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities, who didn’t release his prisoners to their home?”

“ Call together the archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. Encamp against her all around. Let none of it escape. Pay her back according to her work. According to all that she has done, do to her; for she has been proud against Yahweh, against the Holy One of Israel.

I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers.

When they are heated, I will make their feast, and I will make them drunk, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake up,” says Yahweh.

Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.

We have heard of the pride of Moab, that he is very proud; even of his arrogance, his pride, and his wrath. His boastings are nothing.

They prepare the table. They set the watch. They eat. They drink. Rise up, you princes, oil the shield!

Woe to those who join house to house, who lay field to field, until there is no room, and you are made to dwell alone in the middle of the land!

The lofty looks of man will be brought low, the arrogance of men will be bowed down, and Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day.For there will be a day of Yahweh of Armies for all that is proud and arrogant, and for all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low:

Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!You have devised shame to your house, by cutting off many peoples, and have sinned against your soul.
