謂木曰寤、謂啞石曰起、其人禍哉、此物豈能垂訓乎、彼飾以金銀、而中無生氣、

木石不能言、有求其起而庇佑者、禍必不遠、維彼偶像、雖飾金銀、不通呼吸、焉能有應、

呼木偶曰、醒歟、呼不能言之石像曰、起歟、斯人禍矣、偶像豈能應應或作垂訓乎、俱飾以金銀者、其中無生氣、其中無生氣或作不通呼吸

Woe to him who says to wood,‘ Come to life!’ Or to lifeless stone,‘ Wake up!’ Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it.”

How terrible it will be for the Babylonians! They say to a wooden god,‘ Come to life!’ They say to a stone god,‘ Wake up!’ Can those gods give advice? They are covered with gold and silver. They can’t even breathe.”

Woe to him who says to a wooden thing, Awake; to a silent stone, Arise! Can this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in it.

What sorrow awaits you who say to wooden idols,‘ Wake up and save us!’ To speechless stone images you say,‘ Rise up and teach us!’ Can an idol tell you what to do? They may be overlaid with gold and silver, but they are lifeless inside.

Woe to him who says to wood: Wake up! or to mute stone: Come alive! Can it teach? Look! It may be plated with gold and silver, yet there is no breath in it at all.

Woe to him who says to a piece of wood,‘ Awake!’ To a mute stone,‘ Arise!’ That is your teacher? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet there is no breath at all inside it.

Woe to him who says to wood,‘ Awake!’ To silent stone,‘ Arise! It shall teach!’ Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet in it there is no breath at all.

Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

Woe to him who says to wood: Wake up! or to mute stone: Come alive! Can it teach? Look! It may be plated with gold and silver, yet there is no breath in it at all.

The one who says to wood,‘ Wake up!’ is as good as dead– he who says to speechless stone,‘ Awake!’ Can it give reliable guidance? It is overlaid with gold and silver; it has no life’s breath inside it.

Woe to him who says to the wood,‘ Awake!’ or to the mute stone,‘ Arise!’ Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all within it.

有耳却不能听，口中也没有气息。

人用金银妆饰它，用钉子和锤子钉稳，使它不动摇。

他们把所给他们的牛犊预备好了，从早晨到中午，求告巴力的名说：“巴力啊，求你应允我们！”却没有声音，也没有回应。他们就在所筑的坛四围蹦跳。到了正午，以利亚嘲笑他们，说：“大声求告吧！因为它是神明，它或许在默想，或许正忙着，或许在路上，或许在睡觉，它该醒过来了。”他们大声求告，按着他们的仪式，用刀枪刺割自己，直到浑身流血。中午过去了，他们狂呼乱叫，直到献晚祭的时候，却没有声音，没有回应的，也没有理睬的。

锤炼的银片是从他施来的，金子则从乌法而来，都是匠人和银匠的手工；又有蓝色和紫色的衣服，全都是巧匠的作品。

然后又用剩下的一半做了一个神明，就是雕刻的偶像，向这偶像俯伏叩拜，向它祷告说：“求你拯救我，因你是我的神明。”

所以，看哪，日子将到，我必惩罚巴比伦雕刻的偶像。它的全地必然抱愧，它被杀的人必仆倒在其上。

水手都惧怕，各人哀求自己的神明。他们把船上的货物抛进海里，为要减轻载重。约拿却下到舱底，躺卧沉睡。

尼布甲尼撒王造了一个金像，高六十肘，宽六肘，立在巴比伦省的杜拉平原。

既然我们是上帝所生的，就不应该以为上帝的神性像人用手艺和心思所雕刻的金、银、石像一般。

人人都如同畜牲，毫无知识；银匠都因偶像羞愧，他所铸的偶像本是虚假，它们里面并无气息。

至于偶像，匠人铸造它，银匠用金子包裹它，又为它铸造银链。

愿所有事奉雕刻偶像、靠虚无神明自夸的，都蒙羞愧。万神哪，你们都当拜他。

那女人穿着紫色和朱红色的衣服，用金子、宝石、珍珠作妆饰，手拿着金杯，杯中盛满了可憎之物和她淫乱的污秽。

他们从钱囊中倒出金子，用天平秤出银子，雇银匠造成神像，他们又俯伏，又叩拜。

因此百姓一听见角、号、琴、瑟、三角琴和各样乐器的声音，各方、各国、各族的人就都俯伏，拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。

即或不然，王啊，你当知道，我们绝不事奉你的神明，也不拜你所立的金像。”

竟向天上的主自高，差人将他殿中的器皿拿到你面前，你和大臣、王后、妃嫔用这器皿饮酒。你又赞美那不能看、不能听、无知无识，用金、银、铜、铁、木、石造的神明，没有将荣耀归与那手中掌管你气息，管理你一切行动的上帝。

现在我降旨，无论何方、何国、何族，凡有人毁谤沙得拉、米煞、亚伯尼歌的上帝，他必被凌迟，他的房屋必成粪堆，因为没有别神能像这样施行拯救。”
