看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

众民所劳碌得来的被火焚烧，列国由劳乏而得的归于虚空，不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？

看哪，这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？万民劳碌得来的被火焚烧，万族辛苦建造的，归于虚空。

看哪，这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？万民劳碌得来的被火焚烧，万族辛苦建造的，归于虚空。

列邦的财富都化为灰烬，列国劳碌却是一场空。这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？

众民劳碌得来的，被火焚烧；列国辛劳而得的，终归无有。这不都出于万军之耶和华吗？

眾民所勞碌得來的被火焚燒，列國由勞乏而得的歸於虛空，不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

列邦的財富都化為灰燼，列國勞碌卻是一場空。這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

眾民勞碌得來的，被火焚燒；列國辛勞而得的，終歸無有。這不都出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

看哪，萬族之民只為了給火焚燒而勞碌，列國之民只為了虛空而疲乏，不都是出於萬軍之永恆主麼？

諸民勞力乃為火、列邦辛苦歸於虛、此非由於萬軍之耶和華乎、

爾使列邦之民、屬役良苦、竭力築城、萬有之主耶和華、必使之焚燬殆盡、歸於烏有、

眾民辛苦經營、悉為火所焚、萬族劬勞疲憊、俱屬徒然、皆萬有之主所命、

Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?

I am the Lord who rules over all. Human effort is no better than wood that feeds a fire. So the nations wear themselves out for nothing.

Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?

Has not the Lord of Heaven’s Armies promised that the wealth of nations will turn to ashes? They work so hard, but all in vain!

Is it not from the LORD of Armies that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?

Is it not indeed from the Lord of armies That peoples labor merely for fire, And nations become weary for nothing?

Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts That the peoples labor to feed the fire, And nations weary themselves in vain?

Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

Is it not from the Lord of Hosts that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?

Behold,[ is it] not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?

Be sure of this! The LORD who commands armies has decreed: The nations’ efforts will go up in smoke; their exhausting work will be for nothing.

Behold, isn’t it of Yahweh of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

萬軍之耶和華如此說：巴比倫寬闊的城牆要夷為平地，它高大的城門必被火焚燒。萬民所勞碌的必致虛空，萬族所勞碌的被火焚燒，他們都必困乏。

看哪，你們當中所有點火、以火把圍繞自己的人，當行走在你們的火焰裏，並你們所點的火把中。這是我親手為你們定的：你們必躺臥在悲慘之中。

沒有人能以智慧、聰明、謀略抵擋耶和華。

他使有智慧的人中了自己的詭計，叫狡詐人的計謀速速落空。他們白晝遇見黑暗，午間摸索如在夜間。

耶和華說：「看哪，他們成了同一個民族，都有一樣的語言。這只是他們開始做的事，現在他們想要做的任何事，就沒有甚麼可攔阻他們了。來，我們下去，在那裏變亂他們的語言，使他們彼此語言不通。」於是耶和華使他們從那裏分散在全地面上；他們就停止建造那城了。因為耶和華在那裏變亂了全地的語言，把人從那裏分散在全地面上，所以那城名叫巴別。

若不是耶和華建造房屋，建造的人就枉然勞力；若不是耶和華看守城池，看守的人就枉然警醒。你們清晨早起，夜晚安歇，吃勞碌得來的飯，本是枉然；惟有耶和華所親愛的，必叫他安然睡覺。

以東若說：「我們雖被毀壞，卻要重建荒廢之處。」萬軍之耶和華如此說：「任他們建造，我必拆毀；人必稱他們為『邪惡之境』，為『耶和華永遠惱怒之民』。」

你們為何花錢買那不是食物的東西，用勞碌得來的買那無法使人飽足的呢？你們要留意聽從我的話，就能吃那美物，得享肥甘，心中喜樂。

眾海島看見就都害怕，地極也都戰兢，他們近前來；各人互相幫助，對弟兄說：「壯膽吧！」木匠鼓勵銀匠，用鎚子打光的鼓勵打砧的，對銲工說：「銲得好！」又用釘子釘穩，免得它倒下。惟你以色列，我的僕人，雅各，我所揀選的，我朋友亞伯拉罕的後裔，

世人行動實係幻影，他們忙亂，真是枉然，積蓄財寶，不知將來有誰收取。

有人告訴大衛說：「亞希多弗也在叛黨之中，隨從押沙龍。」大衛說：「耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的計謀變為愚拙！」

說：『巴比倫因耶和華所要降與它的災禍，必如此沉下去，不再浮起來，百姓也必困乏。』」耶利米的話到此為止。
