眾民勞碌得來的，被火焚燒；列國辛勞而得的，終歸無有。這不都出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

众民所劳碌得来的被火焚烧，列国由劳乏而得的归于虚空，不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？

看哪，这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？万民劳碌得来的被火焚烧，万族辛苦建造的，归于虚空。

看哪，这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？万民劳碌得来的被火焚烧，万族辛苦建造的，归于虚空。

列邦的财富都化为灰烬，列国劳碌却是一场空。这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？

众民劳碌得来的，被火焚烧；列国辛劳而得的，终归无有。这不都出于万军之耶和华吗？

眾民所勞碌得來的被火焚燒，列國由勞乏而得的歸於虛空，不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

列邦的財富都化為灰燼，列國勞碌卻是一場空。這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

看哪，萬族之民只為了給火焚燒而勞碌，列國之民只為了虛空而疲乏，不都是出於萬軍之永恆主麼？

諸民勞力乃為火、列邦辛苦歸於虛、此非由於萬軍之耶和華乎、

爾使列邦之民、屬役良苦、竭力築城、萬有之主耶和華、必使之焚燬殆盡、歸於烏有、

眾民辛苦經營、悉為火所焚、萬族劬勞疲憊、俱屬徒然、皆萬有之主所命、

Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?

I am the Lord who rules over all. Human effort is no better than wood that feeds a fire. So the nations wear themselves out for nothing.

Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?

Has not the Lord of Heaven’s Armies promised that the wealth of nations will turn to ashes? They work so hard, but all in vain!

Is it not from the LORD of Armies that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?

Is it not indeed from the Lord of armies That peoples labor merely for fire, And nations become weary for nothing?

Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts That the peoples labor to feed the fire, And nations weary themselves in vain?

Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

Is it not from the Lord of Hosts that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?

Behold,[ is it] not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?

Be sure of this! The LORD who commands armies has decreed: The nations’ efforts will go up in smoke; their exhausting work will be for nothing.

Behold, isn’t it of Yahweh of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“巴比倫寬闊的城牆必被夷為平地，它高大的城門必被焚燒；萬民所勞碌的都必成空，萬族所辛勞的都付諸一炬。”

看哪！你們點火的，用火把圍繞自己的，都行在你們火燄的光裡，都走在你們所燃點的火把中吧！這是你們從我手裡所要得的：你們必躺臥在痛苦之中。

任何智慧、聰明、謀略都不能敵擋耶和華。

他使有智慧的人中了自己的詭計，使奸詐人的謀算快快失敗。他們白天遇見黑暗，中午摸索如在夜間。

耶和華說：“看哪，他們同是一個民族，有一樣的語言，他們一開始就作這事，以後他們所要作的一切，就沒有可以攔阻他們的了。來，我們下去，在那裡混亂他們的語言，使他們聽不懂對方的話。”於是，耶和華把他們從那裡分散到全地上，他們就停止建造那城。因此，那城的名就叫巴別，因為耶和華在那裡混亂了全地所有的人的語言，又從那裡把他們分散在全地上。

如果不是耶和華建造房屋，建造的人就徒然勞苦；如果不是耶和華看守城池，看守的人就徒然警醒。（本節在《馬索拉文本》包括細字標題）你們清早起來，很晚才歇息，吃勞碌得來的飯，都是徒然；因為主必使他所愛的安睡。

如果以東說：“我們雖然遭破壞，但仍要把廢墟重建起來。”萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“他們只管建造，我卻要拆毀。人要稱他們為罪惡的境地，為耶和華永遠惱怒的子民。”

你們為甚麼用銀子去買那不是食物的呢？為甚麼用你們勞碌得來的去買那不能使人飽足的呢？你們要留心聽我的話，就可以吃美物，使你們的心靈享受肥甘。

眾海島看見了，就都懼怕；地極也都戰兢；他們都近前來。各人彼此幫助，對自己的兄弟說：“要堅強！”木匠堅固金匠，用鎚打光金屬的，鼓勵打砧的；論銲工說：“銲得好！”又用釘子釘穩了。使偶像不致動搖。但你以色列，我的僕人啊！雅各，我所揀選、我朋友亞伯拉罕的後裔啊！

世人來來往往只是幻影，他們忙亂也是虛空；積聚財物，卻不知道誰要來收取。

有人告訴大衛說：“亞希多弗也在押沙龍的叛黨之中。”大衛禱告說：“耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的計謀變為愚拙。”

然後說：‘巴比倫必因耶和華（“耶和華”原文作“我”）所要降給它的災禍，照樣沉下去，不再浮上來；它的人民也必滅沒。’”耶利米的話到此為止。
