You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life.

They have planned to wipe out many nations. But they have brought shame on their own kingdom. So they must pay with their own lives.

You have devised shame for your house by cutting off many peoples; you have forfeited your life.

But by the murders you committed, you have shamed your name and forfeited your lives.

You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul.

The LORD has issued a decree against you:“ Your dynasty will come to an end. I will destroy the idols and images in the temples of your gods. I will desecrate your grave– because you are accursed!”

King Solomon then swore an oath by the LORD,“ May God judge me severely, if Adonijah does not pay for this request with his life!

They must not rise up and take possession of the earth, or fill the surface of the world with cities.”“ I will rise up against them,” says the LORD who commands armies.“ I will blot out all remembrance of Babylon and destroy all her people, including the offspring she produces,” says the LORD.

In reply all the people said,“ Let his blood be on us and on our children!”
