那時，大衛正坐在內外城門中間的地方。守望的人上到城樓的平頂上，舉目觀看，見有一個人獨自跑來。

我要聽神耶和華所要說的話；因為他應許賜平安給他的子民，給他的聖民；但願他們不要轉向愚妄。

我思想要明白這事，我就看為煩惱；直到我進了神的聖所，才明白他們的結局。

耶路撒冷啊！我在你的城牆上設立了守望的人；他們晝夜都不緘默；提耶和華之名的啊！你們不要靜止。

耶和華啊！我跟你爭辯的時候，總是你有理；然而我還要跟你討論有關公正的問題。惡人的道路為甚麼亨通？所有行詭詐的為甚麼都得享安逸？

耶和華啊！求你在清晨聽我的聲音；我要一早向你陳明，並且迫切等候。

因為你們在找基督藉著我說話的憑據。基督對你們不是軟弱的，相反地，在你們身上是有能力的。

站在耶斯列城樓的哨兵看見耶戶的隊伍來臨，就說：“我看見有一隊人馬。”約蘭說：“叫一個騎兵來，派他去見他們，說：‘平安嗎？’”

耶和華我的神，我的聖者啊！你不是自古就有的嗎？我們不會死的。耶和華啊！你派他們行審判。磐石啊！你立他們施懲罰。你的眼目純潔，不看邪惡，不能坐視奸惡；為甚麼見行詭詐的人而不理？惡人吞滅比自己公義的人，你為甚麼緘默呢？你竟使人像海裡的魚，像無人管轄的爬行的動物。迦勒底人既用鈎把他們釣起來，用網拖走，用魚網收聚在一處，就歡喜快樂，向自己的網獻祭，對魚網燒香，因他們藉此收穫豐富，飲食充裕。這樣，他們倒空自己的網，毫不留情地繼續殺戮列國。

但願有一位肯聽我的，看哪！這是我所劃的押，願全能者回答我，願那與我爭訟的寫好狀詞。

他們擺設筵席，鋪張地氈，又吃又喝。領袖們，起來吧！用油抹淨盾牌。

以色列人暗中做了不對的事，違背耶和華他們的神，並且在他們所有的城市，從哨站到設防城，為他們自己建築邱壇。
