“ Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.

爾其觀於列邦、甚為駭異、當爾之日、我行一事、人雖告爾、爾不之信、

耶和華曰、試觀異邦人、殊可駭異、當爾之時、吾將有所為、雖有人告爾、爾亦不信、

主曰、爾曹當觀於異邦中、必甚駭異、當爾之時、我將行一事、雖有人告爾、爾亦不信、

“ Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.

The Lord replies,“ Look at the nations. Watch them. Be totally amazed at what you see. I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe. You would not believe it even if someone told you about it.

The Lord replied,“ Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.

Look at the nations and observe— be utterly astounded! For I am doing something in your days that you will not believe when you hear about it.

“ Look among the nations! Watch! Be horrified! Be frightened speechless! For I am accomplishing a work in your days— You would not believe it even if you were told!

“ Look among the nations and watch— Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days Which you would not believe, though it were told you.

Behold ye among the nations, and look, and wonder marvellously; for I am working a work in your days, which ye will not believe though it be told you.

Look at the nations and observe— be utterly astounded! For something is taking place in your days that you will not believe when you hear about it.

Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for[ I] will work a work in your days,[ which] ye will not believe, though it be told[ you].

“ Look at the nations and pay attention! You will be shocked and amazed! For I will do something in your lifetime that you will not believe even though you are forewarned.

“ Look among the nations, watch, and wonder marvelously; for I am working a work in your days, which you will not believe though it is told you.

Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:“‘ Look, you scoffers, be astounded and perish; for I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’”

therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

“ Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will punish all those who are circumcised merely in the flesh—Egypt, Judah, Edom, the sons of Ammon, Moab, and all who dwell in the desert who cut the corners of their hair, for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.”

They have spoken falsely of the Lord and have said,‘ He will do nothing; no disaster will come upon us, nor shall we see sword or famine.The prophets will become wind; the word is not in them. Thus shall it be done to them!’”

“ Son of man, what is this proverb that you have about the land of Israel, saying,‘ The days grow long, and every vision comes to nothing’?Tell them therefore,‘ Thus says the Lord God: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel.’ But say to them, The days are near, and the fulfillment of every vision.For there shall be no more any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel.For I am the Lord; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord God.”And the word of the Lord came to me:“ Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say,‘ The vision that he sees is for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: None of my words will be delayed any longer, but the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord God.”

The kings of the earth did not believe, nor any of the inhabitants of the world, that foe or enemy could enter the gates of Jerusalem.

He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing upon us a great calamity. For under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem.

“ I will utterly sweep away everything from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord.

Then they said,“ Come, let us make plots against Jeremiah, for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not pay attention to any of his words.”

and they set up false witnesses who said,“ This man never ceases to speak words against this holy place and the law,for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.”

For the Lord will rise up as on Mount Perazim; as in the Valley of Gibeon he will be roused; to do his deed— strange is his deed! and to work his work— alien is his work!Now therefore do not scoff, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord God of hosts against the whole land.

For many nations and great kings shall make slaves even of them, and I will recompense them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.”Thus the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me:“ Take from my hand this cup of the wine of wrath, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it.They shall drink and stagger and be crazed because of the sword that I am sending among them.”So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand, and made all the nations to whom the Lord sent me drink it:Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and officials, to make them a desolation and a waste, a hissing and a curse, as at this day;Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his officials, all his people,and all the mixed tribes among them; all the kings of the land of Uz and all the kings of the land of the Philistines( Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);Edom, Moab, and the sons of Ammon;all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastland across the sea;Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who cut the corners of their hair;all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the mixed tribes who dwell in the desert;all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;all the kings of the north, far and near, one after another, and all the kingdoms of the world that are on the face of the earth. And after them the king of Babylon shall drink.“ Then you shall say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, be drunk and vomit, fall and rise no more, because of the sword that I am sending among you.’“ And if they refuse to accept the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts: You must drink!For behold, I begin to work disaster at the city that is called by my name, and shall you go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the Lord of hosts.’

And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you.

Astonish yourselves and be astonished; blind yourselves and be blind! Be drunk, but not with wine; stagger, but not with strong drink!
