Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

神說：“你的妻子撒拉，真的要為你生一個兒子，你要給他起名叫以撒，我要與他堅立我的約，作他後裔的永約。

在你家裡生的，和你用銀子買來的，都一定要受割禮。這樣，我的約就刻在你們身上，作永遠的約。

在怒氣漲溢的時候，我暫時向你掩面，卻要以永遠的慈愛憐憫你；這是耶和華你的救贖主說的。這事對我就好像挪亞時代的洪水一般；我怎樣起誓不再使挪亞時代的洪水漫過大地，我也照樣起誓不向你發怒，也不斥責你。雖然大山可以挪開，小山可以遷移，但我的慈愛必不從你身上挪開，我和平的約也必不遷移；這是憐憫你的耶和華說的。

我的家在神面前不是這樣嗎？他與我立了永遠的約；這約安排了一切，穩固妥當。我的一切救恩、一切願望，他不都成全嗎？

我要與你，和你世世代代的後裔，堅立我的約，成為永遠的約，使我作你和你的後裔的神。

願賜平安的神，就是那憑著永約的血，把群羊的大牧人我們的主耶穌，從死人中領出來的那一位，

我要和他們立永遠的約，我必不離開他們，必使他們得到福樂；我也必把敬畏我的心賜給他們，使他們不會離開我。

“看哪，我現在與你們和你們的後裔立約，並且與所有跟你們在一起有生命的活物立約，包括飛鳥、牲畜和所有地上的走獸，就是與從方舟裡出來的立約。我要與你們立約：凡有生命的必不再被洪水除滅，再沒有洪水來毀滅大地了。”

耶和華聞了那馨香的氣味，就心裡說：“我必不再因人的緣故咒詛這地（因為人從小時開始心中所想的都是邪惡的）；我也必不再照著我作過的，擊殺各樣的活物。大地尚存之日，播種、收割，寒暑、冬夏、白晝和黑夜必然循環不息。”

你們要側耳而聽，要到我這裡來；你們要聽，就可以存活；我必與你們立永遠的約，就是應許賜給大衛的那確實的慈愛。

你曾說：‘我和我所揀選的人立了約，向我的僕人大衛起了誓，說：我必永遠堅立你的後裔，也必世世代代建立你的王位。’”（細拉）
