「對於我，這就像挪亞洪水的時候——我怎樣起誓不讓挪亞洪水再次漫過大地，我也要怎樣起誓不對你發怒，也不斥責你。

耶和華聞到了那馨香之氣，就心裡說：「我絕不再因人的緣故詛咒這地，儘管人從年幼時就心懷邪惡；我也絕不再像我曾做的，毀滅所有的活物。只要大地還存留，稼穡、寒暑、冬夏、晝夜就不會停息。」

既然這一切都要如此被廢除，那麼，你們應該做什麼樣的人呢？應該行為聖潔、敬畏神，

一切有血肉、在地上活動的，就是飛鳥、牲畜、野獸和充滿大地的各樣群聚動物，以及所有的人都斷了氣。在陸地上一切鼻孔裡有生命氣息的都死了。這樣，神抹掉了地面上的一切生物——從人到牲畜、到爬行之物、到天空的飛鳥，都從地上抹掉了；只留下挪亞和那些與他一起在方舟裡的。

但現在的天和地，藉著他的話語得以存留，一直留到不敬神的人受審判和滅亡的日子，被火焚燒。
