這事對我就好像挪亞時代的洪水一般；我怎樣起誓不再使挪亞時代的洪水漫過大地，我也照樣起誓不向你發怒，也不斥責你。

耶和華聞了那馨香的氣味，就心裡說：“我必不再因人的緣故咒詛這地（因為人從小時開始心中所想的都是邪惡的）；我也必不再照著我作過的，擊殺各樣的活物。大地尚存之日，播種、收割，寒暑、冬夏、白晝和黑夜必然循環不息。”

這一切既然都要這樣融化，你們應當怎樣為人，過著聖潔和敬虔的生活，

凡有生命仍在地上行動的，無論是飛鳥或是牲畜，走獸或是在地上滋生的各樣小生物，以及所有的人都死了；仍在陸地上，鼻孔裡有氣息的生靈都死了。耶和華把地上的所有生物，從人類到牲畜，爬行的動物，以及空中的飛鳥都除滅了；於是，這一切都從地上消滅了。只留下挪亞和那些與挪亞一同在方舟裡的。

但現在的天地，還是因著同樣的話可以存留，直到不敬虔的人受審判和遭滅亡的日子，用火焚燒。
