「耶和華如此說：你們若能廢棄我所立白日黑夜的約，使白日黑夜不按時輪轉，就能廢棄我與我僕人大衛所立的約，使他沒有後裔在他的寶座上作王，並能廢棄我與事奉我的利未家的祭司所立的約。正如天上的萬象不能數算，海邊的塵沙不能斗量，我必照樣使我僕人大衛的後裔和事奉我的利未人多起來。」耶和華的話臨到耶利米，說：「你沒有留意這百姓所說的話嗎？他們說：『耶和華所揀選的二族，他已經棄絕了。』他們這樣藐視我的百姓，不把他們當作國來看待。耶和華如此說：除非我沒有立白日黑夜之約，也未曾安排天和地的定例，否則我不會棄絕雅各的後裔和我僕人大衛的後裔，使大衛的後裔不再治理亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的後裔。我必使他們被擄的人歸回，也必憐憫他們。」

耶和華使太陽白晝發光，按定例使月亮和星辰照耀黑夜，又攪動大海，使海中波浪澎湃，萬軍之耶和華是他的名，他如此說：

白晝屬你，黑夜也屬你；亮光和太陽是你預備的。地的一切疆界是你立的，夏天和冬天是你定的。

看哪，因為冬天已逝，雨水止住，已經過去了。地上百花開放，歌唱的時候到了，斑鳩的聲音在我們境內也聽見了。

所以弟兄們，你們要忍耐，直到主來。看哪，農夫等候着地裏寶貴的出產，耐心地等到它得了秋霖春雨。

他們心裏並不說：『我們應當敬畏耶和華－我們的上帝；他按時賜雨，就是秋雨和春雨，又為我們定收割的季節。』

我因漲溢的怒氣，一時向你轉臉，但我要以永遠的慈愛憐憫你；這是耶和華－你的救贖主說的。這事於我有如挪亞的洪水；我怎樣起誓不再使挪亞的洪水淹沒全地，也照樣起誓不再向你發怒，且不斥責你。

「六日你要做工，第七日要安息，即使在耕種或收割的時候也要安息。
