既然神也沒有顧惜上古的世界，使洪水臨到那不敬神的世界，只保守了義的傳道者挪亞一家八口；

就是從前在挪亞建造方舟的那些日子裡，在神耐心等待的時候那些不肯信從的靈魂。當時進入方舟，藉著水獲救的人很少，只有八個人。

因著信，挪亞在那還看不見的事上得了神的指示，就動了敬畏的心，建造了一隻方舟，以至於他的家人獲救。藉著信，他定了世界的罪，自己也繼承了從信而來的義。

「在挪亞的那些日子裡發生的怎樣，在人子的那些日子裡也將要怎樣：人們繼續吃、喝、嫁、娶，直到挪亞進方舟的那一天，洪水到來，把一切都毀滅了。

看哪！耶和華使大地空廢，變得荒涼；又使地面扭曲，使地上的居民四散。那時，百姓怎樣，祭司也怎樣；僕人怎樣，主人也怎樣；婢女怎樣，主母也怎樣；購買的怎樣，販賣的也怎樣；借給人的怎樣，向人借的也怎樣；放債的怎樣，借債的也怎樣。大地必徹底空廢，被掠奪淨盡，因為耶和華已經說了這話。大地悲涼凋萎，世界衰落凋萎，地上權高位重的人也衰落了。大地被其上的居民玷汙，因為他們違背律法，違犯律例，破壞永遠的約。因此詛咒吞噬大地，其上的居民必承受罪責；因此地上的居民被焚燒，只有少數人殘留下來。新酒枯竭，葡萄樹衰殘，心裡歡樂的都嘆息。歡快的鼓聲止息，歡騰者的喧嚷停止，歡快的琴聲也止息了。

那麼，主就知道怎樣拯救敬神的人脫離試煉，卻把不義的人留在懲罰之下，直到審判的日子，

萬軍之耶和華說：「在我預備珍貴產業的日子，他們必屬於我；我必憐恤他們，如同人憐恤那服事自己的兒子。那時，你們必再次看出義人與惡人、服事神的人與不服事神的人的區別。」

住在至高者隱祕處的，將安居在全能者的蔭庇下。

一切有血肉、在地上活動的，就是飛鳥、牲畜、野獸和充滿大地的各樣群聚動物，以及所有的人都斷了氣。在陸地上一切鼻孔裡有生命氣息的都死了。

藉著神的話語和水，當時的世界被水淹沒就毀滅了；

在盛怒的日子裡財物沒有益處；唯有公義解救人脫離死亡。

「結果這些人將離去，進入永遠的刑罰。然而，義人將進入永恆的生命。」
