上帝也沒有容忍遠古的世代，曾用洪水淹滅了世上不敬虔的惡人，只留下傳講上帝公義的挪亞和他的七位家人。

他們就是從前在挪亞造方舟、上帝耐心等候人們悔改的時代中那些不肯信的人。當時進入方舟，從洪水中得救的人很少，只有八個人。

海水回流，法老的戰車和人馬都淹沒在大海之中，全軍覆沒。全體以色列人卻在乾地上走過紅海，海水在他們兩邊築成水牆。那天，耶和華就這樣從埃及人手中拯救了以色列人。後來，以色列人還看見埃及人的屍體橫在海邊。

六次遭難，祂都救你；第七次，災禍也傷不到你。

看啊，耶和華必摧毀大地，使大地荒涼。祂毀壞地面，驅散萬民。那時，祭司和百姓，主人和僕人，主母和婢女，買的和賣的，貸的和借的，債主和債戶都必同遭厄運。大地必完全毀壞，一片荒涼。這是耶和華說的。大地必衰殘枯乾，世界必衰敗荒涼，世上的權貴也必敗落。大地被世人玷污，他們違犯律法，不守律例，背棄永遠的約。所以大地必遭受咒詛，世人必因罪而受懲罰。他們必被焚燒，所剩無幾。葡萄樹枯萎，新酒停產，歡樂的人都發出悲歎。歡快的鼓聲止息，悅耳的琴音消失，宴樂的喧鬧不復聽聞。

上帝知道怎樣拯救敬虔的人脫離試煉，把不義的人拘禁在刑罰之下，等候審判的日子，

萬軍之耶和華說：「到我所定的日子，他們必成為我寶貴的產業，我要憐憫他們，如同父親憐憫他的孝順兒子。那時，你們將再度看出義人與惡人之間的區別，事奉上帝者和不事奉上帝者之間的不同。

安居在至高者隱秘處的人，必蒙全能者的蔭庇。

世上所有的飛禽、走獸、牲畜、爬蟲和人類都死了。在陸地上所有用鼻孔呼吸的生靈都死了。

後來，那個世界被水淹沒而毀滅了。

在降怒之日，財富毫無益處，唯有公義能救人免於死亡。

這些人要受永遠的刑罰，但義人要得到永遠的生命。」

難道你要走惡人的古道，步他們的後塵？他們死期未到便已夭逝，他們的根基被洪濤捲走。他們對上帝說，『離開我們吧！全能者能把我們怎麼樣？』
