On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.

耶和華對挪亞說：「你和你的全家都要進入方舟，因為在這世代中，我看到唯有你在我面前是義人。

但我要與你確立我的約；你與你的兒子們、你的妻子和兒媳們要一起進入方舟。

閃也生了兒子；閃是希伯所有子孫的祖先，是雅弗的哥哥。

挪亞的兒子，從方舟出來的，就是閃、含、雅弗；含是迦南的父親。這三人是挪亞的兒子，全地的人都是從他們分散出來的。

因著信，挪亞在那還看不見的事上得了神的指示，就動了敬畏的心，建造了一隻方舟，以至於他的家人獲救。藉著信，他定了世界的罪，自己也繼承了從信而來的義。

就是從前在挪亞建造方舟的那些日子裡，在神耐心等待的時候那些不肯信從的靈魂。當時進入方舟，藉著水獲救的人很少，只有八個人。

以下是挪亞的兒子閃、含、雅弗的譜系：洪水之後，他們都生了兒子。雅弗的兒子是革默、瑪格、瑪代、雅完、圖巴、米設、提拉。

挪亞生了三個兒子：閃、含、雅弗。

挪亞五百歲時，生了閃、含、雅弗。

既然神也沒有顧惜上古的世界，使洪水臨到那不敬神的世界，只保守了義的傳道者挪亞一家八口；

含的兒子是庫實、麥西、普特、迦南。

挪亞與他的兒子們、他的妻子和兒媳們一起進入方舟，躲避大洪水。潔淨的牲畜和不潔淨的牲畜，飛鳥和地上一切爬行之物，都公母成雙，一對一對來到挪亞那裡，也進入方舟，正如神所吩咐挪亞的話。
