On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.

耶和华对挪亚说：“你和你的全家都要进入方舟，因为在这世代中，我看到唯有你在我面前是义人。

但我要与你确立我的约；你与你的儿子们、你的妻子和儿媳们要一起进入方舟。

闪也生了儿子；闪是希伯所有子孙的祖先，是雅弗的哥哥。

挪亚的儿子，从方舟出来的，就是闪、含、雅弗；含是迦南的父亲。这三人是挪亚的儿子，全地的人都是从他们扩散出来的。

因着信，挪亚在那还看不见的事上得了神的指示，就动了敬畏的心，建造了一只方舟，以至于他的家人获救。藉着信，他定了世界的罪，自己也继承了从信而来的义。

就是从前在挪亚建造方舟的那些日子里，在神耐心等待的时候那些不肯信从的灵魂。当时进入方舟，藉着水获救的人很少，只有八个人。

以下是挪亚的儿子闪、含、雅弗的谱系：洪水之后，他们都生了儿子。雅弗的儿子是革默、玛格、玛代、雅完、图巴、米设、提拉。

挪亚生了三个儿子：闪、含、雅弗。

挪亚五百岁时，生了闪、含、雅弗。

既然神也没有顾惜上古的世界，使洪水临到那不敬神的世界，只保守了义的传道者挪亚一家八口；

含的儿子是库实、埃及、普特、迦南。

挪亚与他的儿子们、他的妻子和儿媳们一起进入方舟，躲避大洪水。洁净的牲畜和不洁净的牲畜，飞鸟和地上一切爬行之物，都公母成双，一对一对来到挪亚那里，也进入方舟，正如神所吩咐挪亚的话。
