果然如此。上帝開闢了穹蒼，用穹蒼將水上下分開。

萬軍之耶和華說：「你們要把當納的十分之一全部送到我的倉庫，使我的殿中有糧。你們這樣試試，看我會不會為你們打開天上的窗戶，把祝福傾倒給你們，直到無處可容。」

「主耶和華說，『我要使你成為荒無人煙的城邑，我要使海水上升淹沒你。

但那將領對上帝的僕人說：「即使耶和華打開天上的窗戶，也不可能發生這樣的事！」上帝的僕人說：「你必親眼看見，卻吃不到。」

主——萬軍之耶和華觸摸大地，大地就消融，地上的人都要哀號；大地如埃及的尼羅河漲起退落。那位在天上建造樓閣，在大地之上立定穹蒼，召來海水澆在大地上的——祂的名字是耶和華。

洪水來臨之前，人們吃吃喝喝，男婚女嫁，一直到挪亞進方舟那天；

祂向穹蒼發出命令，又打開天門，降下嗎哪給他們吃，賜下天糧。

祂將海水聚在一處，把汪洋收進倉庫。

你曾開闢泉源和溪流，也曾使滔滔河水枯乾。

「大海從母胎奔騰而出時，誰為它劃定界限？是我為大海披上雲彩，為它裹上厚厚的幽暗。是我為它劃定界限，並安上門和閂，說，『你到此為止，不可越界；你狂傲的波濤要停在這裡。』

他們在杳無人煙、人蹤絕跡之地開礦，他們遠離人群，懸在半空搖來搖去。

祂一聲令下，天上便大水澎湃；祂使雲霧從地極上升，使閃電在雨中劃過，使風從祂的倉庫吹出。

一個攙扶王的將領對上帝的僕人說：「即使耶和華打開天上的窗戶，也不可能發生這樣的事！」以利沙說：「你必親眼看見，卻吃不到。」

上使穹蒼堅固，下使深淵的泉源安穩，設定滄海的界限，使海水不得越過祂定的範圍，為大地奠定根基的時候，

難道你們不敬畏我嗎？這是耶和華說的。難道你們在我面前不顫抖嗎？我以沙石為海的界限，使水永遠不能越過它。洶湧的波濤不能逾越，澎湃的海浪不能漫過。

看啊，我要使洪水在地上氾濫，毀滅天下。地上一切有氣息的生靈都要滅亡。

大地斷裂、崩潰，劇烈震動。

當人們正在說一切平安穩妥的時候，災禍會像產痛臨到孕婦一樣突然臨到他們，令他們無法逃脫。
