以色列人又和非利士人交戰，大衛親自出征。在他十分疲倦的時候，一個名叫以實·比諾的巨人佩戴新刀，手拿三公斤半重的銅矛，衝上來要殺他。洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩趕來救駕，殺死了非利士巨人。這事以後，大衛的部下向他起誓說：「你絕不可再跟我們一起出戰，免得以色列的燈熄滅。」後來，以色列人和非利士人在歌伯打仗，戶沙人西比該殺了另一個非利士巨人撒弗。在同一個地方，伯利恆人雅雷俄珥金的兒子伊勒哈難又殺了迦特人歌利亞。歌利亞的長矛粗如織布機的軸。在迦特的一次交戰中，有一個非利士巨人每隻手腳各有六個手指和腳趾，共二十四個手指和腳趾。他向以色列人罵陣，大衛的哥哥示米亞的兒子約拿單就殺了他。這四個迦特巨人的後裔都死在大衛和他的部下手裡。

巴珊王噩是最後一個利乏音人。他的床是鐵做的，存放在亞捫人的拉巴城，長四米，寬一點八米。

非利士營中有個名叫歌利亞的巨人出來討戰。他來自迦特，身高三米，

那裡以前也是利乏音人住的地方，亞捫人稱利乏音人為散送冥，利乏音族人數眾多，像亞衲人一樣身材高大。耶和華消滅了他們，讓亞捫人佔領他們的土地，住在那裡。

聯合二百五十名在以色列會眾中有聲望的首領反叛摩西，

說：「來吧，讓我們造一座城和一座高聳入雲的塔，這樣我們可以揚名天下，不致分散在地上。」
