不过，主再来的日子要像贼一样突然临到。那日，诸天必在一声巨响中消失，有形有质的都要被烈火焚毁，大地和其中的一切将不复存在。一切都要这样被焚毁，你们在热切等候上帝来临的日子期间，该怎样过圣洁、敬虔的生活啊！因为到那日，天要被火焚毁，有形有质的都要被烈火熔化烧尽。

地上的人类、飞禽走兽和爬虫等一切生灵都被毁灭了，只剩下挪亚和跟他同在方舟里的生灵。

当时的世界在上帝眼中非常败坏，充满了暴行。上帝看见世界败坏了，因为世人行为败坏。

“西缅和利未串通一气，依仗刀剑，残暴不仁。

耶和华问我：“阿摩司，你看见什么？”我说：“我看见一篮夏天的果子。”祂说：“我以色列子民的结局到了，我不会再饶恕他们。

从那时起，地上出现了一些巨人，他们是上古有名的勇士，是上帝的儿子和人的女儿所生的后代。

住在河边、拥有财宝的巴比伦人啊，你们的结局到了，你们的末日来了。”

后来，那个世界被水淹没而毁灭了。同样，现在的天地要凭上帝的话语存留到不敬虔的人被审判和毁灭的日子，那时天地要被火焚烧。

挪亚因为有信心，在上帝指示他未来要发生的事之后，就怀着敬畏的心建造方舟，来救全家的人。他借着信心定了那个世代的罪，并承受了因信而来的义。
