and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.

When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called for his son Joseph and said to him,“ If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my thigh and promise that you will show me kindness and faithfulness. and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

They have poured out blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there is no one to bury the dead.

I will die in this land; I will not cross the Jordan; but you are about to cross over and take possession of that good land.
